Wrong album grouping
« on: November 13, 2014, 12:43:30 am »

I have discovered an issue with JRemote that it performs grouping and sometimes simply 'swallows' albums with the same title. For example, having multiple artists in my collection with "Duets" albums, I find some of the albums merged and few simply lost. Yet, if I search by the artists I see these albums properly.

In JRiver everything is displayed perfect

When I asked Robert Ryan, the developer of JRiver, he says that "this may be a problem on the server. Items with the same name is grouped together. Will verify this and notify the MC guys"

I don't know if that's a problem with API JRiver uses to fetch this data from JRiver server..

It is quite annoying, I don't know why this was not reported before

There are a number of different ways you can handle this.
The simplest solution is to add an Album Artist level below Album.

Tools → Options → Media Network → Advanced → Customize views for Gizmo & WebGizmo

Go to your Album view and add the "Album Artist (auto)" category below Album.
Accept the changes and restart Media Center.

Now when there are albums with the same name by different artists, selecting it will bring up a list of the artists before listing the tracks.
