Library Problem
« on: November 21, 2014, 12:30:45 pm »

I need help recovering my library...

I have two libraries... Main and Karaoke. I was restoring my Karaoke library... BUT I was in my MAIN library at the time... so POOF, Main library gone.
Is there an UNDO?
Does MC take regular automatic backups, and if so where are they?
Or am I stuck having to restore from my very old manual backup of Main?

One curiosity I've noticed as well... I also had a few other libraries (TV, MOVIES, etc.), and I would see them under the list of "Playing from ___" in the Playing Now... but those have disappeared too! I don't see why restoring a library (with either the right or wrong backup) should cause the OTHER libraries to fall off the list that MC knows about.

Cheers,
Jeff

check out tools/library/file location/scroll down/program files/library backups. there you can see where they are all stored. (after restoring main, i'd go back to main library backup windows location folder, and delete the karaoke one you accidentally restored from in main.

Thanks, Yes, I found them, and it seems that MC took an automatic backup of the Library from when I launched the program this morning, so it appears I lucked out!

ALSO, regarding the curiosity of the missing libraries after the (bad) restore... I left the box checked for Restore Settings, and I'm guessing that was the thing that killed off MC's memory of those other libraries. After I restored Main from the auto backup, I then carefully and correctly restored the Karaoke library, and Unchecked the Restore Settings checkbox, and all the libraries were retained in the list of known libraries.

Cheers,
Jeff
