Thanks for the responses.
I have checked and followed the tips at .
My CDRW is an HP9500 no hardware version available. Driver Provider Microsoft 5.0.2183.1. I have attempted this with and without checking use generic driver. I have also tested with the detected 12X setting and with a setting of 4X.
I am attempting to write MP3 files encoded using MJ 7.2/MP3-VBR. All files play fine in MJ and with other players. I have also decoded to WAV using non MJ related software without a problem. I have tried other playlists, however failure always occures on the first file in the list. Normalize is not checked, Decode MP3 directly to CD is not checked. If you still need sample files let me know. Perhaps also important is the fact that the MP3 encoder upgrade detected with "Check for upgrades" fails at the end of install. This being an encoder plugin I did not think it was a related problem.
I do have a temp directory on Local Disk C however it has no files in it or any indication it is being used by NT. (seems strange for an NT box). My disk usage is as follows:
Local Disk C Total 7.86GB/Free 968MB
Removable Disk D Not Mounted (Zip100)
Local Disk E Total 7.86GB/Free 69,8MB
Compact Disc F HP9500 (note 80Min Media Mounted For Burn/Attempted with Several New CDR's)
I have Norton 2001 v7.08.28i and Zone Alarm 2.6.362 withe the True Vector driver installed.
I did receive an error message regarding temp space prior to the above error, however after clearing some disk space on drive C that error has not occured. I am afraid I did not record the details of the error or include it in my test plan since it only happened in the first test (I should know better). I can try to reproduce it on this machine if you think it is important. I can also attempt this on a machine with more CPU/memory and with ample disk space. I just thought I would ask some questions prior to that effort.
Thanx
John
