ASIO Driver Missing in 20.0.44
« on: December 02, 2014, 01:03:09 am »

This latest version has introduced a bug - ASIO drivers vanished! Well, they are still on my system but they are not showing up in JRiver.

What driver are you talking about?

No problem here with ASIO drivers showing in MC.  (Using ASIO drivers supplied by Lynx for Hilo ADDA).

Matt --

(disclaimer)
Now that you ask: the JPLAY Driver [ASIO] no longer appears under 'Devices' with build 0.44.

I'm happily using both softwares (one for music; the other for handling music library through JRemote, and film playback), and naturally assumes to continue doing so in the future - thanks.

jplay is not recommended and not supported:
http://jriver.com/jplay.html

You'll need to take jplay issues to the jplay forum.  Or better, uninstall it.

Named issue is clearly initiated through your latest build; surely your people must be the ones to fix it.

Listen (no pun intended): my ears are the final judges on my software choosings and modifications. No need to take this issue further by blocking our use of JPLAY through your software - a repeated pop-up warning is more than enough..

I installed 20.0.41 back over the top of 20.0.44. Everything is working fine again with JPlay and Audiophile optimizer.

I do also still see (exaSound) ASIO drivers.

Like other users of JRMC20, I discovered that the latest build (20.0.44) does not work with JPlay. I am able to confirm that 20.0.41 does work. There have been suggestions in audio forums that this is a deliberate move on the part of JRiver.

I should be grateful someone with appropriate authority within the company would confirm or deny this.

Thank you

I am not seeking to discuss JPlay on this forum Matt. I recognise that JPlay have their own forum on which discussions about the product are more appropriate.

In my post I asked a simple question, namely, has JRiver disabled functionality with JPlay with version 20.0.44

Please do not evade the question. I should be grateful for your answer. It is of course, your company's prerogative to disable such functionality. One might however, expect JRiver to point this out in the changelog that is published with each update to JRMC20.

Once again, thank you in anticipation of your response

Thank you for your reply Jim. I am very disappointed, as I am sure other users of MC will be.

JRiver will no longer support Jplay.

Jim --

In all fairness, JRiver never did; this is just a further move on your part to impede on the integration of the two softwares (although this is the first measure to truly try and block their combined use) - no doubt fueled by a recent discussion over at Computeraudiophile.com.

I can understand your lack of support, but that needn't go so far into this. A shame - I hope you reconsider..

Jim ... I have thought carefully about this and I also hope you will reconsider. I cannot see any advantage for JRiver as a company if you maintain your current policy with regard to JPlay. You will obviously lose business over it as no JPlay users will upgrade to JRMC21 when the time comes. Please consider reviewing your decision.

I think we all could understand that MC has decided not to support Jplay, that's understandable, but I can't support that they decided what  I can or can't do!
Please reconsider your decision!

I think JRiver have just had enough of JPLAY hijacking their IP (database manager, network solution etc. etc.).

Given that JPLAY charge 100 euros (!), JPLAY fans should instead be *clamoring* for JPLAY to develop its own database manager etc.

How clever of JPLAY to mask itself as an "ASIO output device" - wow! Now those meanies at JRiver will *have* to allow JPLAY to parasite their IP.....!

If a company subverts a protocol (in this case ASIO) which was developed to facilitate easy integration of software and true devices, then I fully support this unethical behavior being blocked.

Curious, because JRiver now also have an ASIO output and Audio driver...

Maybe JRiver should be blocked in all the other programs because that...

Interesting point. However, other programs would be well within their right to block JRiver as an Audio driver if they objected. They also are under no obligation to work with JRiver.
Would these programs be standalone media players in direct competition with JRiver?
Would be quite amusing if someone wanted to use Windows Media Player (e.g. the database function) and output to JRiver  :D
This could get very messy!

This was just to show you this nonsense from JRiver! And there is more...

That are not obligated to support other programs, and that could be done very easily...

I still want to get a refund!

Please move Jplay discussion to another forum.  It is not supported by JRiver Media Center.
