jriver audio on osx does not dynamically set output channels
« on: December 06, 2014, 12:32:53 pm »

I have my Mac mini hooked up to my OPPO and using the osx audio midi setup app have selected 8 channel 24 bit audio.

When playing a 192/24 2-channel flac file jriver insists on converting to 8 channel and it also changes the sample rate.

If I go into Audio Midi Setup and set it to 8 channel 96/24 (the oppo only supports 96/24 8-channel or 192/24 2 channel), then JRiver insists on converting my multi-channel music to 2 channel.

Can jriver be configured to simply output lpcm in same channel and samplerate as the source?

XBMC has no problem with this and I have to believe there's something in JRiver's settings to make this work.

You configure the channel output in DSP Studio > Output Format > Channels.

Does not work.

The setting in Audio Midi Setup always controls.

As I said - If I set Audio Midi Setup to "8 Channel", then JRiver always outputs 8 channel.

If I set Audio Midi Setup to "2 Channel" then JRiver always outputs 2 channel.

This is a problem as I have both 2 channel, 6, and 8 channel audio (as well as video).  I don't want JRiver to convert the audio; I want it to output exactly what the audio file is encoded for.

Note: I have enabled Exclusive Access as well...
