problem playing DSD128
« on: December 11, 2014, 10:28:28 am »

I'm using DLNA with an SOTM SMS100 and when I play a DSD128 file with JRiver the song duration is cut in half - ie: a 5:00 song will only show 2:30 when it starts playing on the progress bar. Really strange - DSD64 and everything else shows/plays the correct song duration. Any ideas? I tried the same songs with HQPlayer and it works as it should. I'm using the latest version of MC and also tried a couple previous versions. Oh, DLNA Server/Audio/Mode is Original and format is PCM 24 Bit.

thanks

That's weird.   Our DSD128 files play no problem.

Could you provide a sample to me?  I'm matt at jriver dot com.

Thanks.

The test file imports and plays fine.  We tested on two machines.  We also tested on a Mac.

Are you "pushing" the track to your SOTM SMS100 from MC?
If so, is the bitstream dsd option under the DLNA server advanced options set or unset?

Hi Bob, yes, pushing. In Media Network/add or configure DLNA servers/Advanced - Bitstream DSD (requires DOPe compliant renderer) is CHECKED. If I uncheck and try to play the correct duration is shown in the progress bar but the song never plays - the countdown timer loops for a few seconds.

thanks - this is really puzzling

Not playing without it Bitstream DSD checked simply means the renderer requires DOPe
We'll try duplicating your test with a push, we were pulling from a library server.

Hello Bob

Did you try to play a 128 DSD file with the SMS-100 renderer ? Connected to a DSD 128 compatible DAC in USB ?
With the Bitstream DOP checked ?
Can you play the full song ?
On my side I can only play the first part of the song, it is literally cut by 2. Both DAC and Renderer are 128 compatible.

Thanks and Regards
