« on: December 22, 2014, 04:13:44 pm »

Download: http://files.JRiver.com/mediacenter/channels/v20/latest/MediaCenter200052.dmg

20.0.52 (12/22/2014)

1. Fixed: The main application menu would often not be shown until the mouse was clicked within the app's window.
2. Fixed: If CD audio files were in playing now list and the CD device was removed, Media Center could crash if a DLNA device queried for the tracks.

20.0.51 (12/22/2014)

1. Fixed: In format conversion dialog, if a target directory was specified along with multiple levels, the converted file ended up in a strange land.
2. Fixed: In format conversion dialog, if a target directory was entered that did not exist or was not writable, the conversion would fail without a helpful message.
3. Fixed: DLNA serving of Ogg, MP3, MP4 files with conversion to uncompressed wave would fail on some devices because of an incorrect transcoded length value.
4. Fixed: Dates were not displayed with the locale settings in system preferences.

20.0.46 (12/9/2014)

1. Fixed: Cmd-Q fix didn't make it into previous build.
2. Fixed: File transfers to external devices (Handheld sync) were much slower than doing it via Finder.
3. Fixed: Some web views were not working (displaying blank page), like "connected media".
4. Fixed: Web Gizmo wasn't working.

20.0.45 (12/5/2014)

1. Changed: Cmd-Q now works properly for exiting the application.
2. Changed: Holding the Control key while clicking the left mouse button now works correctly for bringing up the context menu (right-click menu).

20.0.40 (11/21/2014)

1. Fixed: DLNA: MC as renderer, when receiving a SetNextAVtransportURI, MC was allowing the playlist to grow beyond 2 items which is incorrect. This caused playlist sync issues.
2. Fixed: DLNA: MC as controller, fix bug in event send when changing playlist position 1.
3. Fixed: DLNA: MC as controller timing issue, make sure the first track is playing (for at least 5 seconds) before doing the SetNextAVTransportURI function.
4. Fixed: DLNA: MC as controller, when playlist position current +1 changes send a new SetNextAVTransportURI to devices that support it.
5. Fixed: The change from 20.0.31 (Back out library server hiding when the library is empty introduced in 19.0.71) missed the library server visibility (it was showing the DLNA servers).

upon start up the help menu appears floating on the desktop.

It goes away with but a single mouse click in MC.

This behavior has returned since the early v.20 builds.

i’m still experiencing odd 'display view' behavior when switching between
different views. after switching 'display view' and reverting back to standard view the full screen view often pops up again when it shouldn’t and it sometimes takes several tries to get rid of it.
also, the transport bar in display view only shows up the 1st time as it should when hovering the cursor over the top part of the cover. it is greyed out in all following attempts until the app has been restarted.
all of the above happens to me since the early 20 builds.

happy holidays everyone

I am not sure, but I think I might be seeing some trouble when Safari is running at the same time as MC 20.0.52 Mac. MC 20.0.52 is crashing a lot, but I don't think it has happened when Safari is closed. I'll post more if I see something more specific.

JRiver M20 is very unstable. I basically pretty much stop using it and I am using my Airport Exress with Itunes for the moment.... :P
Either it does crash and you cannot start it again, either it will make crash other applications (Safari for example). The problem is that you need to restart physically your Mac because you cannot really kill the application once it does crash and restart your Mac normally. Only a physical shutdown will allow you to start again Safari or MC. I also had direct crash of my Mac too.

I am starting to think that the problem is with Yosemite versus Maverick and not MC19 versus MC20. It looks like people using Maverick does not have these extreme issues.
I have switched to Yosemite and MC20 at the same time so since I will not come back to Maverick, I am waiting for a stable version.

I hope you can find what is wrong.

Thanks and Regards

Just a little oddity that i've noticed with this version it seems...i don't believe i changed any settings to make my version act this way, but i usually search for a specific band by going to Artists and clicking on any artist and then typing the name of a band and it will jump to that band. I just now tried after updating to .52 and i started to type The Wedding Present, but after hitting the first space following "the" it started playing The Afghan Whigs. I assume that the space bar plays whatever track it is on, and that is why it started playing, but it didn't use to act that way before. I want to get it back to just going to the artist i'm typing in the list...

thoughts?

I am def seeing an issue with Safari running with MC 20.0.52. I don't know anything specific, but if I try to run the two programs together I will soon have to restart the Mac to fix the conflict. I have not noticed the conflict with any other programs.

This seems more and more like a Mac issue? The latest I've observed is that MC will be running along fine, and for some reason the audio that I am streaming to an AirPort Express cuts out. I've used the AirPort Utility to check the AirPort Express that I stream audio to, and find that it has become disconnected (yet I am still getting internet access through the same device and it is connected in the Networks Prefs). When this happens I find that in the Sound panel in Sys Prefs, AirPlay is no longer shown as an output option. A restart of the computer fixes things for a while. If anyone has any ideas on where to go with this I'd be very happy.

Happy New Year!

I'm ripping with MC20 finally. I read all about the settings and saw the below which says "Secure" is the default. In my settings within MC20 it was set to "Normal" as the default. Just thought I'd pass this along if it's not supposed to be this way.

Copy mode:
Secure: This is the default mode and will give the most reliable rips. It does multiple read passes to ensure the extracted data is correct. It will generally be half the speed of other methods and possibly much slower than that if the media is damaged or the computer is very busy doing other tasks.

CD ripping is still unreliable for me under MC 20.0.52 (OS X 10.10.1/Macbook Pro 7,1)
Some CDs can’t be read at all, others get stuck while encoding, often in the 2nd track.
Regardless whether the setting is set to ’secure’ or ‘normal’.
I also just noticed that I can’t change the CD rip directory anymore. It’s stuck at the location
I originally set it to. An attempt to change location gives me the error: Invalid Location

This appears to have happened because of a change starting with the Windows platform build 20.0.46:

13. Changed: Spacebar always fires play / pause instead of only when full screen is focused (experimental change -- may not remain).

Here's my vote for keeping 'Spacebar always fires play / pause' in place.

I've noticed an inconsistency with the way that MCWS is returning active zone information in the Playback/Zones response:

Quote
<Response Status="OK">

2

0

0

{removed_for_privacy}

10000

{removed_for_privacy}

{removed_for_privacy}

10003

{removed_for_privacy}

</Response>

As you can see, the CurrentZoneID in the response is 0, but there is no zone with ID 0 in the response. This is causing my app (eos) to crash.

I'm not sure if this is specific to the Mac version of MC, but the only person who is experiencing this issue is using v20.0.52 of MC for Mac.

My vote is to change it back. The way i'd quickly get to an artist is by typing the name of that artist and having it jump right to it. Now it just starts playing music when i hit space. Not fun...Yes, i can search from the search bar, but i'm so used to the other way i keep getting frustrated with the new process...

Hello,

I am the one having the issue. I had it with V20.0.46, too.

I hope it can be fixed quickly.

Thanks.

JRiver Media Center 20.0.52 for Mac has trouble renaming files when there are accented characters (20.0.40 had the problem too).

This behaviour occurs consistently.
1) Select the files, press F6 to rename.
2) Rename the files (leaving the accented characters in place).
3) MC throws up an error but renames the file on disk leaving a mismatch between the library and the disk

Work-around:
1) Long Click on the filename in MC so you can rename it in the library view
2) Rename manually so it points back to the correct file.

This has happened at least with é, ê, ü

I should also add that I am Yosemite.

Thanks for the great work on the product! I find this version to be much faster with library edits and more stable than the 20.0.40 GA release.

I have two issues that have developed since up grading to MC20 on my Mac-mini:
1) music has glitches in playback,, my wife says the music is skipping, but it sounds like the file is being interrupted and stutters for a brief moment then continues on. this appears to be random, but continuous.
2) when starting the system, after the Mac is awake and everything loads on my iPad, I select what I want to play, and everything appears to respond, however music does not start to play, the status bar shows the correct selection, but stands still. then eventually it will launch, or if I go to my keyboard and press play directly in the computer screen it appears to react.

If these issues have been address before, I apologize, but I did not see them.

Thank you for your support.
