20. NEW: Added a "Cancel" button while gathering info for the file properties dialog.
The button was there, all right. It didn't do anything.

Clean and Tidy 2 does not intialize at all, while CnT II does not show album art.  Hasn't worked for a few betas now.

Still no Find button. Anything planned?

Did Raymond get the new MJReader.dll into this build? As of 8.0.183, it still was screwed up.

17. Fixed: DirectSound playback would not stop at the end of a stream.

This did NOT fix the looping problem if Continous is set off.  With Direct Sound ON & Crossfade Agressive set, when the last track finishes, the last 2 seconds of the last tune are repeated forever and MJ's Player Window says 'Stopped'.  Also, with Continous off and the near the end of the last track, the Player Window info gets weird for the last 4 seconds of playback...displays TOTAL_TIME as 'Live' and REMAINING_TIME as '-6:45' (if the TOTAL_TIME is 6:45, for example).

This took 30 minutes with my piddling 1600 files. Make some spare time King.

I've tried everything I can think of and I still get "Decoding Error" whenever I try to convert anything to anything else.

I'm not having this problem on my other system, so I know it's gotta be something that went wrong on this one. Can you guys think of anything at all that might be causing this? A control that didn't get registered correctly, a registry setting, anything?

Charlemagne 8,

Cancel does work...MJ just presents the Media File Properties dialog for only the files scanned so far (not the complete list).

hello there...bought the full version a while ago...was running fine
and had upgrade to 7.x as it found new versions...it automatically
went for the 8.x upgrade...always good to see it being improved
(note this is the only product i have ever sent money for because i
was so impressed with how it worked) but 8.x doesn't want to recognize my 6.x license and says it is an improper 8.x license and
that i have 30 days for trial, etc.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my 7.x, then upgrading to 8.x again, and the same thing
happens...

please help...don't want to stay at 7.x and want to use the new features asap...thanks again for a great product

also my e-mail is piratehollow@yahoo.com if i need something specific...thanks in advance.

chris> Version 6 licenses don't work for 8. You'll have to buy a version 8 license.

Version 6 licenses got a free upgrade to 7, but not 8. Version 7 licenses get a free upgrade to 8.

Okay, this is weird (actually - it makes a lot of sense to me, strangely enough).

I downloaded and installed the Nomad II plugin 3.0.4. And magically, all of my decoder error messages went away and everything (regarding file conversions) is working perfectly.

My guess - one of the earlier versions of the plugin caused the problem (and since I was one of the few people that tried it, it would explain why only my home computer was having the problem as I never installed any Nomad anything on my laptop and why nobody else was having the problem) and this newest one fixed it. Not sure why it would have any effect on general file conversion, but I have to assume that it did.

But all is well now (on that front anyway).

Steve> Just a couple of minor problems I noticed with the new plugin.

1. I didn't pay real close attention, but it looked as though the normalization progress bar never did anything. It's possible that it just went so fast I never got to see anything, though.

2. On the actual file transfer dialog, the overall progress indicator reset itself after every individual file transfer.

Other than those two very minor bugs, it seems to be working perfectly! Thanks for all of your hard work on getting this out to us. Next Page

Now. Back to testing the Audio CD playback stuff. Next Page

Quick question for Steve or any other Nomad II users out there.

My Nomad II doesn't display the tag information of WMA's even though I know it's there. It only displays the filename. MP3's are displayed by tag info. Is this a Nomad issue or is MJ not filling in the tag info for WMA's correctly?

Digital CD playback still isn't working for me. It just says "Opening" and never goes any further. Digital CD playback works fine in WMP.

Analog CD playback works fine in MJ8, however.

If I have my Audio CD Type set to IDE, it sometimes looks as though it's playing, but there is no sound. If I set it to ASPI, it just constantly says "Opening". If I choose Auto Config, it looks as though it's playing but with no sound, and when I go back in to the Audio CD settings, it's listed as IDE.

I have two CD-ROM devices. F: is just a plain old CD-ROM, G: is a CD-RW. This configuration was fine under 7.2.

re version 8.0.185

DSP -

I cannot change the settings for Environment, Intelli-Volume and Replay Gain. Virtual-Sub and Surround are ok. Does anyone else have this problem - I've not seen anyone else reporting it ? It's been the same on every build of v8 !!

This bug is still there:
MJ 8.0.180 calculates wrong file sizes because it divides by 1000 instead of 1024. For example, a file with a size of 5,227,752 Bytes will we listed as 5.227MB instead of 4.986MB

When copying files through the context menu an error message is displayed for each file after all files have been copied. The error message is "Invalid list column setting. (programmer error)".

One more thing about those shell extensions:

Wouldn't it be a good idea to enable them for folders too ? WinAmp already does this ("Play in WinAmp/Enqueue in WinAmp"), and I think it's great feature.

I'm posting this in every thread that it's topical in, so if you've read this already... sorry! Next Page

If I have Rip & Encode Simultaneously checked, and record something from Line-in, SOMETIMES, MJ fails to import the file after recording and if I go find the file under Explorer I can SOMETIMES find it but it will be unplayable.

If I turn Rip & Encode Simulataneously off, the problem goes away.

I've only had this happen using APE - High, but that's the only encoder setting I use for this task.

Equalizer doesn't seem to work for me anymore.  I enable it and no sound change at all.  Also when in mini-me mode with winamp skin if I click on the load equalizer preset button it brings up the save preset screen.

Can anyone else use the equalizer?  I have tried on 2 computer and had same result on both.

Scub,

You are right...the EQ doesn't work anymore!!  DSP effects do, but not EQ.  Maybe, Matt is trying to fix the EQ's problem with playing back extended portions of digital silence...MJ goes into a high cpu usage mode until the digital silence ends.

quick question... will |PLS| ever be added back in program to bring up file properties?  I used that all the time in 7.2 and miss it.  Has it been replaced with a new keyboard shortcut that I am not aware of?

Got another small problem for you.  When title is to long to display in Mega-Me and it scrolls right and left, the end of the title is not visible because the 3 periods are not replaced with end of the name.  The Artist - Album seems to do it fine.

Also it would be nice to enable/disable scrolling all the time instead of moving the mouse over the title to get it to scroll to see the whole thing.

Visualizations are continually displayed when a song ends (it appears to be running the visualizations on the last few seconds of the song... similar to the DirectSound bug).

Did I miss something, or has the Find Music functionality disappeared?  I don't mean Find CD, but Find Music in my library.

Request:

How about making the Copy (ripping) popup dialog the same mode as the CD Burning dialog...non-modal (I think...you know what I mean).  I like the fact that I can minimize the CD Burning dialog and still see MJ.  It would be nice if you could do the same thing while ripping, converting, etc.

Any chance of implementing this in a future build??

BUG: You can't associate MJ with no file types. If, under File Associations, you do Unselect All, OK, then return to File Associations, some file types are still checked.
