Question about playback speed
« on: February 16, 2003, 09:02:45 pm »

I'm wondering if it is possible to change the real time speed (or length) of an mp3. Someone gave me an mp3 of some music that is running too fast, like the way music would sound if it were to be played on a fast turntable. I want to be able to slow it down if it's possible, either in playback mode or while burning.

I'm using MJ version 8.0.393

You can do all sorts of thing to a file as a wav. Your options are much more limited with it being an mp3. So I would suggest converting it to a wav first, using an editor on it, then converting back to an mp3.

One of the only things that I like about the new WMP9 is that on XP you can slow down or speed up songs without changing the pitch. I hope that MJ adds something like this soon!

Anytime you speed up or slowdown a song you change the pitch, just that in small amounts it's not that noticeable (like slightly incorrect rotation speed on a turntable)...

trap...
I was going to say pitch is frequency, but after reading this, I guess there's more to it then that.

I dunno, All I know is that there is something out there that can slow down an mp3 withouth it sounding like the batteries on my walkman are dying ;-)

Actually, just to clarify I also wanted to lower the pitch as well as the speed of this particular mp3.
