For those using zap2xml...
« on: December 31, 2014, 02:41:23 pm »

I'm having an issue in that every so often (every 3-4 weeks maybe) I have to re-run the epg loader manually because the channel matching no longer is auto matched. I notice it because my 'To be Recorded' list keeps getting shorter (and I record a lot of TV).

basically, I have to manually re-match all the TV stations.

Does anyone else using Zap2It see this issue?

I use Zap2it. I'm not seeing that problem. I record about 20 - 25 programs a week (3 or 4 a day).

Try saving an xmltv file for comparison. When you see the problem again, compare it with a new file and see if you can find any changes in the TV channel IDs.

I'm running the zap2xml now. I'll see if there are any changes. I just had a situation where only some of the channels needed 're-mapped'...I'm hoping maybe I can figure this out.

If anyone knows a EPG source that includes season and episode info for the US (other than zap2it), please let me know.

All the channels mapped the same on this manual run, so I will try to run again tomorrow. At least I have a backup copy of today's run, so I can compare in the future when it happens again.

OK, so it finally happened again. Only it just happened on one channel, so I am pasting the difference...

The new one has 2 entries for A&E HD:

Code: [Select]

<display-name>1067 AETVHDP</display-name>
<display-name>1067</display-name>
<display-name>AETVHDP</display-name>

<display-name>1067 AETVHDP</display-name>
<display-name>1067</display-name>
<display-name>AETVHDP</display-name>

The original had the following:

Code: [Select]

<display-name>1067 A&E HD</display-name>
<display-name>1067</display-name>
<display-name>A&E HD</display-name>

Anyone have any thoughts?

I also noticed that AMC was similar (1 entry on the original, and 2 on the new), but the first entry on the new XML matched the only entry of the old one.

Both channel entries in the new file do not match the old channel id. Since the channel id has changed, MC loses its original channel-program association. That explains why you had to re-associate them.

Can you still find id="I51529485.labs.zap2it.com" in the new file?

No, it's not there.

The channel number is the same though (1067)...if that makes a difference.
