Album Inventory?
« on: January 12, 2015, 03:24:23 pm »

I know this has come up before but I'd like to reiterate the need that it should be a standard built in function.  It seems as though it would be so easy to incorporate since the software is doing it anyway  It would be really nice if it was built in and simple to print to PDF.

I find the other way that has been mentioned a complete PITA.

The attached is literally one click.  It would be nice if MC had this feature.

Are you talking about being able to print the album art to PDF?

Otherwise an album list exported to pdf is pretty simple (or HTML if you prefer). Here's mine if you want to import it into a smartlist.

Code: [Select]
[Media Type]=[Audio] [File Type]=[fla],[flac] ~nodup=[Album Artist /(auto/)],[Album] ~limit=-1,1,[album] ~sort=[Grouping],[Album Artist (auto)],[Album Artist],[Album],[Groupings],[Genres],[Country]

Remove the grouping and/or flac filters if you don't use them or want them in there and then just choose the columns you want to show.

PS- this works on windows, I'm assuming it works the same way on a MAC. Sorry to steer you wrong if this is not the case.

I would like a list of Artist > Album that's it.  If it had tracks too it wouldn't be the end of the world.  See the attachment that I posted above.

Thanks for what you posted but what's smartlist?

Again, this is why this should be built in.

seriously? or are you joking around ? with 420+ forum posts I assumed you had the time to browse the wiki.

If they built everything in all the more complicated stuff you can do could be compromised by dumbing it down too much. And you have a WIzard to create a list like this.

my "expression" is that I posted above is more complicated than you need .. all you have to do is create a smartlist and choose not to duplicate Album and Album Artist or using the wizard again and hit the import button and copy this into it if you are in a hurry

Code: [Select]
[Media Type]=[Audio] ~nodup=[Album] ~sort=[Album Artist (auto)],[Album]
add the columns you want and export to pdf  - or HTML whatever

now if you really don't know what smartlists are; and you weren't messing with me,  here you go   ;D http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Smartlists#User_Examples
