Encoding issue
« on: January 12, 2015, 04:33:34 pm »

Hi, I'm new to MC for Mac. Just downloaded over the weekend. Purchased a license this morning. I'm trying to rip a CD and change the encoding to AIFF. When I go to encoder settings it presents a popup which states The current encoder is not configurable. My question is this, how do I make it configurable? How do I change the encoding settings?

thanks

AIFF has no configuration.  You could pick a different format that has configuration if you like.

What do you want to change? You can control sample rate and a bunch of other things through the DSP options.

Thanks for the quick responses. I want to rip CDs at full resolution, which is what, 16/44.1? I thought I had changed the settings to do that but when I ripped a CD I got mp4 files. How do I rip a disc at full resolution.

thanks again

In the options, choose ALAC.

Or AIFF or APE or FLAC.  Any of them will rip a perfect copy of the CD.

Therein lies the problem, I can't change the settings to anything, when I try I get a popup message saying "The current encoder is not configurable." How do I make it configurable?

Some encoders can't be configured.  Try using the Options page.

FLAC and AIFF have no configuration settings so you don't need to click on "Encoder settings...", just leave the encoder set to the format you want and rip the disc:
