Can't record, is it a softwear conflict?
« on: February 17, 2003, 03:05:10 am »

I am finding it impossible to record from Mini disc to the computer.  Have read all the help files and worked through them step by step.  Still no luck.

Someone has suggested that I might have a softwear conflict and a search through past messages seems to indicate that Media Juke box is not compatable with Adaptec.  Is this right?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

As in ECDC/DCD? I don't think so (I've never had that problem w/ v5 Basic). Make sure you have latest (5.3.2.34). Older Nero...yes; XP built in burn...yes; WMP9...yes (w/ MJ v8, that is); RealOne...maybe. But they generally interfere with the burn process only (AFAIK).

I would try using plain jane Sound Recorder to see if your getting anything into Line-In of your soundcard. Check your mixer settings (right click on the speaker in the System Tray and select Open Volume controls).

Thanks,  I have tried using an ordinary tape recorder, but no sound is going into the line in.  Any suggestions?

Then the line-in port is dysfunctional, muted, or turned off. Check the configuration of the SoundCard via Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Sound...controllers. Make sure you have latest SC drivers. The SC may have it's own mixer as well.

Do you have any programs like Total Recorder installed? The TR driver has messed up some recordings for me.
