Auto-connect to NAS after start and JRemote Folder View
« on: January 15, 2015, 09:44:20 am »

Hello

There are 2 things that do not give me to use your product as "true" media server, without using TV/monitor.

1. After start my Mac I need to open my NAS WD My Cloud media content through Finder first and only after this I can start MC and list all content. In case of MC starts first, media library files from NAS not avialable for player. Every starts I need to switch on the TV and use pad and keyboard for open content in Finder.

2. Do you have plan to add Folder View to JRemote app ? I use Folder View on Mac software but I don't have the possibility for use it on my iOS remote. I need turn on the TV for having my library's full control

My system is 10.9.5 + MD387 + 20.0.54

Thanks

Anybody here?  ::)

Is it possible to make that MC would be connect to the NAS automatically after system start up or restarting? Without opening NAS content in Finder first.

And what about Folder View for JRemote ?

Try running Media Server when you start the system.  Set up auto import to watch a folder on the NAS.  That might work.

Or start MC in a script that checks the NAS first.  Google might help.

I will check auto import function but for example Audirvana 2.0+ doesn't have this issue, NAS content is avialable as media library after restart the Mac.
Is it will be fixed in the future?

I,m using a headless Mac mini as JRiver audio server together with a Synology NAS. When the Mac mini boots, it auto-connects with the audio folder on the NAS. Under System preferences > Users and groups > Login options > Login items you can select the audio folder on your NAS.

I have the same issue.  Also, sometimes, having pointed MC to the music folder on my Synology NAS, I have to to do the same thing for video in order to switch from audio to video on MC.

Not sure whether it's possible to have the Mac auto-connect to two separate folders on the NAS at once (music and video). Any idea?

The first 2 steps are what I did and it works automatically every time without a hitch

http://www.bluepiccadilly.com/2012/10/mac-os-x-automatically-connect-network-drive-when-your-computer-starts-or-wakes-sleep

The rest of the article takes care of reconnecting after a period of sleep, which I haven't tried yet,

Regarding folder view in JRemote, you can add it yourself:

1. Go to Tools > Options > Media Network.
2. Open the advanced section.
3. Select "Customize views for gizmo & Webgizmo..."
4. Make sure "Audio" is selected in the left side list.
5. Click "Add..." button.
6. Select "Library item from standard view".
7. Select "Audio\Files".
8. Click "OK" and close the option windows.
9. Done, but you may need to close and reopen JRiver.

It works! Thank you a lot!  :D

Incredible! But It works also! Thanks!  :o

I have one more problem. When I switch off my amp + DAC (MAC is in a Sleep Mode), MC loses Core Audio device (my DAC) and sets system Core Audio by default as primary device. After switch on my amp with DAC they are not set as default in MC. I need set it manually in MC audio settings.

Do you know how can I fix it? Is it possible to set hard link to my audio device only?
