Unable to update file location for DVD rip
« on: January 17, 2015, 06:46:46 am »

I'm hoping there's a way I can do this and that I'm just missing it.

I ripped some TV show DVDs and used particles to separate the episodes and this has been working fine. To cut a long story short the files are now in a different folder and I want to update my library to point to the new location. Here's what I've tried so far:

1. Used the "Find & Replace" option. The problem here is that the "Filename" field is not available.
2. Used the "Rename, Move & Copy Files" option. The problem here is that the "file type is not supported" (see attachment).

How else can I do this? One file at a time isn't really an option as I have a lot of files to do.

I believe you are using the wrong part of the "Find & Replace" tool - if I understand your situation correctly.

I frequently move files around, as all my TV Show recording record to drive D, then after enough have collected, I move them to drive F for storage. I can move a group at a time (not one-by-one) by "lassoing" them or hold cntrl key and click on each file. Then I use the Rename tool which doesn't actually rename it just moves the files to the new drive.

In this example I am moving episode of The Big Bang Theory from drive D to drive F. Once I click on the folder "The Big Bang Theory" (highlighted), the right side of the "preview" window will change to read "F:\TV Shows\The Big Bang Theory\series name..epidode name..etc. If the preview looks good, I click OK.  This moves the files without changing any file names.

Sorry but this isn't what I'm seeing. I think the difference is that my files are VIDEO-TS rips and whatever options I pick in the Rename dialog, it says that the file type is not supported.

I know you can move the entire folder contents from one VIDEO-TS movie to another location and MC will move all of the individual ifo, bub, vob, and jpg files with it.

I tested by moving an existing VIDEO-TS Movie. I  created a new folder called "test folder", then I used the "Rename, Move & Copy Files" feature to select that specific VIDOE-TS movie in Standard View (meaning I selected just the single movie/file displayed (not all of the individual vob files and such) and MC  moved all of the associated files to the new folder too.

I guess I don't understand what you are doing. I'm sure someone else will come along shortly with some useful info.
