5. Changed: Audio only mode only hides (and later reshows) view schemes instead of deleting them.

This doesn't seem to save the state for what features are currently enabled, and is enabling things like TV and Notes which I do not want to use.

That's the way it works.  It turns the features back on that it disabled.  It doesn't honor the saved state before using the feature.

I might not have been clear.
If I enable audio-only mode and then disable it, restoring MC to normal, features which I had previously disabled myself like TV, Notes, Linkable Columns are being enabled.
 
It doesn't seem to be saving the original state prior to enabling audio-only mode - which means that I had to restore a backup and am now rebuilding tens of thousands of thumbnails again.

Like Matt said, thats how it works. Its designed to disable and enable certain features.
You also don't need to import a backup just to disable 3 features again.

That's how it works.  It doesn't save the original state.  It just disables and later reenables a fixed list of features.

I understand that it does not store the original state.
But don't you think that it should?
 
I'm sure I had changed more than just those three features, and it was easier to restore a backup to get me to exactly what my previous state was, than try to recreate it.
All of my current views (17 tabs) were also reset to the "Start" webpage, which was a nuisance.
 
Computers are good at storing and recalling this sort of data. People are not - especially if you enable the option for a week or two and then decide to disable it.
Less advanced users are going to wonder why things are not back to the way they were before.

Changed: Audio only mode remembers features that were disabled originally so turning it off won't restore a previously disabled feature.

Since the option is a way of pre-configuring the features list for less-advanced users, restoring things to their previous state, rather than a predefined "default" state is ideal.

I'm liking auto only mode so far, thanks a lot for including it. Also, I see it's included in the latest Mac and Linux builds. Is it okay to enable it there, or is it based on .55 that's broken without the .57 fixes?

It wasn't broken.  It just removed the video and image views instead of hiding / showing them again.  I don't think that would matter on Mac and Linux too much.
