Audible.com on MC9
« on: October 05, 2003, 08:59:42 pm »

Hey guys,
I'm experimenting with Audible.com content on MC9 (and iPod).  Couple of questions.

1.  I just discoverd the download manager.  Is it/ will it be possible to download Audible.com through MC9 and completely bypass AudibleManager for downloads. Ideally, I'm looking to consolidate as much as possible for my music / audible / ipod / music services.

2) Can I use MC9 to burn Audible tracks on CD when I need to?

Thanks.

In regards to (1), it will probably work. Can you try it and let us know?

In regards to (2), you should be able to burn if it is a data CD, but you may have trouble burning as an audio CD. Please test it out and let us know.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve,

I tried the download manager but couldn't get it to work. Didn't know if I had to set something up right though.

I'll try the CD burn this evening.

parranoya,

Just be sure to have 'aa' added to the File Associations in DownloadManager->Tools->Settings->Options->File Associatons.

What happened when you downloaded an Audible file with Download Manager running?

Try opening the Audible site inside MC.  You can do this by:

1.  Open MC in the Start Page.
2.  Open the Audible page in IE
3.  Drag the "e" icon from the IE address line to the MC start page

If that works, you can edit MC's options.ini file.

Jim,
I was able to open Audible website inside MC9. Thats very cool.  Its almost like its made for it.

But I still wasn't able to download an audible file. If I click download it automatically launches AudibleManager( like it should) but if I right click "download with download manager" the download manager window opens but no downloads.

parranoya,

I do not think download manager is going to work with Audible at this time. We may be able to change this in the near future.

OK, thanks Steve. For now, I'm happy to be able to manage my mp3 and Audible content and iPod with one application instead of two.  Its a big step forward.

Followup on the CD burning question for Audible files.

I tried it. It doesn't work.  The program crashes after you click the burn button.
