I am trying to record from Mini Disk to PC.  I have connected the cable from headphone socket to sound card and have tried LIN, MIC and the other PC socket.  I have tried every option including Mixer source, have tried clicking every recording source, one at a time, but still no volume is registering.  I have also tried with a casette player, but have had the same problem.

What do I do now?

Hiya

It gets a bit confusing as there's quite a few settings that need to be correct. First thing to do is to place the mouse cursor on 'help' at the top of this page which will give you a dropdown menu. On there, have a look at 'line-in recording' and that should, hopefully, put you on your way.....

Thanks.  I've tried using the help files and following the instructions.  I think that there may be something wrong with my computer.  When we start it it says something like "line in N/A".  Doesn't sound right to me!

you might need to turn on "Line In" thru the windows Settings Under Control Pannel

Have you tried to just put the mini-disc in the cd drive on your computer? Most drives have a recess just for this. If it is an audio disc you should be able to rip as a cd then.

I think he means MiniDisc, as in Sony MiniDisc player, not the 21 minute CD.

Is it Sony only? I've looked at them before and thought they might fit by chance.
