I believe that MC come .avi capable...no plug-in needed.

If you're having trouble playing a file with the .avi extension, it is most likely because it is in Divx format. You need to install the Divx codec in Windows.

There's a easy solution

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html

It's recommended to install basic only. Since installation I can watch all my vid's (except *.dat)

I've had some problems with Nimo...  it's kind of like a shotgun instead of a sniper's rifle.  If it's only one or two files, I'd suggest finding out which codec you need (AVICodec will do this for you) and then install just that codec.

Try K-Lite codec pack from here
http://www.freecodecs.com

Been using it and it works fine. Installing is a breeze to. No more multiple installation window.
