Playing video through MC destroys Win 8.1
« on: March 04, 2015, 01:36:20 pm »

Windows needs to be re-installed or restored after any attempt to play video in MC.  Windows runs just fine, but there is no video through HDMI cable

I recently installed a new graphics card on another PC and VCL player exhibited the same problem.  NVIDA support walked me through the uninstall process of any Win update in August 2014.  Fixed problem.  I tried this on the PC I am referring to without success.  I need to be careful NOT to play any video through MC, to avoid a lot* of time restoring.  BTW, I replace the motherboard as Intel thought it could be it's HDMI connector.  It wasn't.

I played video through MC since v17 so the problem was introduced either with a windows update or a MC update.  Microsoft want me to buy a service contract to report a bug!

Hard to believe others haven't experienced this problem.

Any help?

Thanks

Larry

That's not an MC problem.  Sorry.  Video driver would be the likely suspect.  Try an older one.

Sounds like it may be changing the resolution to one thats not supported. Check in MC Options -> Video -> Display Settings and set "Display Settings automatic change mode" and set it to "Off" if its anything else.
