Synology DLNA Library Duplicates
« on: March 12, 2015, 06:50:37 am »

Hi
I loaded my music files onto a Synology DS214+ NAS and then imported it to MC where it shows up as a DLNA library on the network.
This all looked fine until I came to adding new music. I copied the files from my PC (Windows 8.1) to the Diskstation folder and then imported to MC - again all fine.
In MC the new files have a Diskstation filename but every time I reboot my PC they acquire a duplicate 192.168...5000 network address. Rather oddly, this does not affect the old files that I uploaded to Filestation and then imported to MC. I thought it was a problem with Auto Import but turning that off does not help.
It is quite clear that the 192.168...5000 files are not being transcoded but the Diskstation files are.
Obviously when I play an album it plays both versions so this is not viable.
Any clues?

You probably don't need to import a DLNA library.  You should be able to import the files from the file system directly, without using DLNA.

You can clear your library under the File menu.

Thanks Jim
Yes, clearing my library and then reconnecting to Diskstation library removes the duplicate address leaving me with just the http\\192.168.. addresses. I did lose quite a lot of album art though.
When I import a new album from the Diskstation folder though it has a Diskstation address that would be duplicated on reboot.
Presumably I have to clear the library every time I add new music.

You don't need to clear the library.  Set up auto import under Tools > Import.

The wiki has a topic on cover art.

I think the problems you're having are Synology problems.  You might check their site to see if you can find help.

Hi Jim
I have now got Auto Import set to add files from \\Diskstation\Music folder on NAS.
I still get duplicate files with an http network address and these cannot be edited in MC.
The solution appears to be to go into 'Files' where it shows two locations at the top and delete media from the http address.
Good to go (for now) but would be nice if there was a way to permanently excise import of http addresses as this happens with every restart.
Thanks for the help.

Is the NAS also mounted with a drive letter?

Remove other auto import locations or turn off auto import and do it manually.
