Hello, I have JRiver MC Master and Geek Pulse DAC, I can play music at the sample rate of 192/24 but when it comes to dsd64, it will display the sample rate on my DAC but there is no sound at all??? please help!!! THX

Why would it show a sample rate it cannot play ?

In Tools->Options->Audio-DSP

Under Sample Rate, there is an entry for 352,800hz - change the output to "176,400hz".

Does the DAC support DSD directly ?

Did you try enabling bitstreaming for DSD?

Have you downloaded and installed the Windows driver 2.23 from LH Labs at http://lhlabs.com/support/geek-pulse.html  ?

My Pulse has not arrived yet (waiting on an X infinity) but my GeekOut works just fine.  Here are the settings I am using under TOOLS --> Options

Under Audio Device --> Light Harmonic (ASIO)  ...Device Settings ... be sure DSD in DoP Format is checked

Under Settings --> ...DSP & Output Format ... --> Output Encoding: None  Sample Rate --> Output "No Change" for all sample rates

Under Bitstream --> Yes(DSD)

Under Track Change --> everything is unchecked (I don't think this affects whether DSD files playback or not just how I prefer to have tracks change)

If you have "  352,800hz - output is 176,400 hz " set in DSP, then DSD64 will be converted to PCM of 176.4, unless you have some other setting in MC20 that bypasses that.

So, are you trying to play DSD directly through the DAC, or are you just trying to hear DSD and so conversion to PCM is okay ?

I just want to listen to Diana Krall (the girl in the other room) in 2822400 hz sample rate/5644 bit rate/dsf file type with my Geek Pulse DAC...

You're right, it is the last line "Greater than 384,000Hz" that needs to be set to 176,000hz.

But all of this is only to convert DSD to PCM (as opposed to passthrough).

( 352,800hz should also be set to 176,400hz for any DXD files. )

I think there is as much art as science to all this.

With my GeekOut DAC, the settings I listed above work fine for all my files whether they be regular PCM, DXD, or DSD. However, with a different 384 PCM / DSD64 DAC everything plays fine except the 352.8kHZ DXD files which have a lot of noise. For some reason, if I set 352,800Hz files to output at 384,000Hz the noise goes away.

Sometimes it drives me up a tree trying to figure out the idiosyncrasies of different DACs.

Back to the original question about the Pulse DAC. The Geek Pulse is supposed to support DSD both natively (with ASIO driver) and in DoP format.  There is a thread on the Pulse forum about the DSD no sound issue. No replys yet though.
