Standard Television view needs help
« on: March 22, 2015, 01:33:21 am »

Are there any plans for the standard Television view.
When i'm setting up things. It just feels so disconnected from the user point of view.

Lack of double clicks in places. lack of right clicks in so many places.
editing recording can't be done right in the recording rules.
Can't change the width of the channel list.
Meta data/cover art is very underutilized.

Please take these observations positively. It's not bad, it just feels like it needs some love.
But i know how many little changes. Can turn into a much bigger things.

There has been many really good changes lately. But it still feels like we are still far from where it could be.
I'd even like to see multiple TV views. Where i can separate how i watch TV from how My wife and kids would.
But as it stands it a ton of work just hiding the channels i'm not subscribed to.

Thanks for all the hard work you guys put into JMC.
I look forward to every update.
Back to JRemote testing once i update all this TV stuff.

Let's start easy.  What lacks double-click that could benefit from it?

Thanks.

Recording rules should probably allow double click to edit.

Alright.  Good idea.  Next build:
NEW: Double-clicking a recording rule brings up the 'Configure Recording' page.

Is there another place that needs double-click?  If not, what place lacks right-click?

Thanks.

Thanks!

Right clicks:
channels:
  • Add/remove favorite
  • hide/unhide

Not necessary but would be nice
Recording rules:
  • Delete
  • Configure

While looking at the channel window.

When you are under the "All Programs"
Left clicking on any channel does not act as a filter for the window on the right.
Instead it says
"Double click here to setup program data"

I also noticed you can actually sort the channel window.
When we can resize the channel window. :)
It would be cool to see a favorite at the top so you could sort.

"Double click here to setup program data"

That is because MC could not find any program to display for the selected channel.  If programs associated with the selected channel are found, they will be displayed.

Ah You're right.
I was on a MC client. (I'm at work)
And even though there was program data it must not been for the current time.
Sync updated the program data.

Thanks

Next build:

NEW: Right-click menu (Add to Favorites, Remove from Favorites, and Hide) on Standard Television view Channels list.
NEW: Right-click menu on the Standard Television view's program list.  The menu items depend on the filter type.

We're making progress!

What's the next hot button issue?  Hopefully it's simple to code.

Thanks.

All the changes work great!

I think my last small issues was when i was in the manage channels window.
I could double click to start the channel. To test that it was working or subscribed.
But i couldn't stop it. So when i double clicked on a channel that didn't work.
It was not clear if the channel worked. Or it was the previous channel was still playing.

Would it be worth putting a play stop or something like that in that window?

Thanks again!
