For the forum admin - spammers

FYI I run a forum which also uses simple machines, same as this one.
I recently installed "cleantalk" which has (so far) completely kept spam at bay.

Not sure if it's compatible with this version of smf (you're running 1.1) - definitely works with latest 2.0.x version.
Prior to that, I used "stop spammer" http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1547 which also worked well against spam bots, but isnt so good for people logging in and posting manually.

xubuntu lts 14.04 32 bit, running mc22.0.36 as anything later doesn't work properly over vnc. using linux mc22 as media server to windows mc22 last version / jremote on ipad.

Every time I see a SPAM post, I just click the Report to moderator link to report it.

Sure, I do the same, but whoever has access to the smf control panel can install one or other of those 2 mods and reduce spam considerably.
With cleantalk, I have significantly reduced the spam that does appear.
