For a few weeks, I've been asking a question in different threads and groups, until I was adviced to start a separate thread, here with my latest experiences. I'm speaking of files recorded on a PC, wireless streamed to an iPad, from the iPad via Apple Extreme to my stereo.
The problem is that I occasionally get the message "There was a streaming error" when trying to play certain (ripped) cds from JRemote.
This occurs:
- When I have ripped a CD in MC or iTunes to Apples m4a format/ALAC
It does NOT occur:
- with m4a files downloaded from iTunes
- with LPs recorded in Audacity, then converted to m4a
- with m4a files a friend of mine ripped and sent over
- and, perhaps as a clue, when JRemote settings on my iPad is set to "Transcode audio". That is, it seems to have something to do with bandwith.
To sum it up: there seems to be a problem with playing ripped CDs in ALAC/m4a. I would love a fix (or an idea) for this. Or, if there isn't one, to be able to set JRemote on my iPad to "Auto transcode", so I could keep recording in ALAC (then I would be able to listen to them in the original lossless format in iTunes).
I'm using Windows 7, all the latest versions in all links.
Please?
