Any way to include videos in a slideshow? I get the error message "Failed to load image" for all video files, so I guess it's not possible. However, it would be really great if the slideshow could mix both photos and videos in one continuous stream stead of having to show them separately.

I have the same problem. Downloaded MC20 and tried to play a playlist I created using the exact same mixed (.mov and .jpg) files I used with MC17. My MC17 version plays perfectly. The MC20 version fails to load any of the videos. The path to the video image is displayed and is correct.

I can select the videos from the explorer window and they play just fine, audio too.

This copy of MC20 is right out of the box, I have not changed any of the Playback Options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the options for filetypes, set MOV to use Quicktime for playback.

OK, I did that and no change. The new setting did play the .mov image when I clicked on it.

I also noted that when I changed the setting the file type was already associated as a quicktime.

As I mentioned I can click on the .mov image in the playlist and it plays fine, so seems to me that the file type is automatically selecting the correct playback method. It's when it's playing the playlist and fails to load the .mov image. The .jpg's play fine.

I created another playlist with just the .mov image files and it played fine.

So, the problem seems to be when its a mixed (.jpg & .mov) playlist

Mixed video and image slideshows have been a problem since at least MC19. I think MC18 too. I posted about it before once or twice. It did certainly previously work, but has been broken for some time.

Thanks, I use this feature alot, especially since most cameras now days take both images and high quality video that I like to combine into a mixed playlist. Not many apps out there that do this without having to render both into a video.

Next build:
Fixed: A mixed playlist of images and videos will transition to the next video from the image when flicking.

It's strange, but I don't see the code to make this work anywhere. So maybe it never worked? In any event, it should be good next build.

It definitely did. Circa MC14 I used it extensively to drive our lobby video wall.

I think, maybe, it broke around the time of Red October. Not sure, but thanks for looking.

Well we had a totally different image playback engine if you go that far back!

I just created a Playlist Group that creates a mixed playlist of images and video. After an image is displayed, the video opens but doesn't play. It stays at 0:00 with a blank screen. I manually added images and video to playlist and have the same problem.

Videos sure start for me. Strange.

Any other clues happening? Does hitting play/pause get it rolling again?

No, play/pause does not start it again. I tried with several types of video files and they all freeze with a black screen. I also tried different image file types as the last file before the video and have the same problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by "flicking," but if I drag the picture off the screen with my mouse then the video does play.

I tried messing with this too, though it's not something we use here...

Video to image works just fine, but the next video in the list will not play. According to the Player Display bar, it should be playing, but seeking will not work. Pressing 'Next' displays the next image.

As mojave reported, dragging the image away (how would you do that from the couch in theater view?) does start the video that is next in the list, but for me, despite "jump on play" for video being set to "Display view", the interface drops back to "Standard View" with the video playing in the action window display window.

You load a playlist with a mix of pictures and video.
Right click that playlist in the tree and choose "Play"
When the next file in the slideshow is a video file, playback stalls with a black screen.

The same occurs using "Play All" in Theater View.

Based on the comments here and at the fact I could not re-install an MC20 demo to do a test, I had to buy the license. So I did and sure enough the fix mentioned does work when using the next button. But when I select the Playlist and play it, MC still does not play all of the mixed pics and vids automatically. The problem seems to be when you have a sequence of: picture, video, picture then MC freezes on the second picture (no Pan & Zoom either).
