My JRiver MC periodically won't update
« on: May 16, 2015, 03:09:44 pm »

So I have to uninstall and reinstall the program. I have both JRiver20 for Windows as well as JRiver for both Windows and Mac (Master License"). I have not used the JRiver MC20 for both yet as I still haven't gotten a Mac). I do not want my reinstalls to be charged against me since I have no choice/option but to reinstall, else MC30 doesn't work at all.  I also don't want to use my new "for both Windows and Mac" yet.

This time, I reinstalled and it looks like I have the MC20 trial program.   This is annoying, especially since I've now paid for two MC programs. Also, the link I saved with my activation code doesn't seem to work either.

Finally, on a completely different note, I've just set my sound default to 24/96 exclusive;  will this be a problem when I play lower bit/sample rate music?

Just use a restore.  Here's how it works:

does that override the 'trial' MC20?  (I just entered my license number and it says my MC20 was restored) - or do I now have two competing programs (trial and the regular one).  Why does this happen at all (failure to properly update and need to uninstall then reinstall?)

also, why would i now have only 7 out of 10 restores left if the problem is not really on my end?

It's hard to tell what you're doing or what you want, but the instructions I posted should work.

Your license must match the version installed.

i just don't want each time i have to restore because it won't update to be charged against my 10 updates;  i'm wondering why (again) mc20 seems not to update correctly just so, and why i have to uninstall/reinstall or restore just to get the updates.  i don't think the issue is on my end. in any case, i believe you all told me a few months ago that i wouldn't be docked any restores when i had trouble with the updates that time.

on the other note, so if i set sound on 'exclusive' what bit/sample rate do you recommend?  i play a mix of hi-res 24/96 and ordinary rbcd 16.1/44.  i set it at 24/96, but didn't fully understand the instructions as to whether doing so will allow me to play both (i'm using 'realtek speakers' on this computer)...

thanks.

If you run out of restores, the developers can and will reset the count for you, so nothing to worry about there.

Let's not write a blank check here.  The reason it's limited is to prevent abuse.  Normally we do reset the restore count when it's run out..
