Running Media Center as a limited user?
« on: September 27, 2003, 07:15:32 am »

Is it possible to run Media Center as a user with a limited account under Windows XP?  I have been having trouble getting this to work, even using the Run As option on the executable.

King, have a look at "users" in your XP control panel.
"limited user" accounts have tighter restrictions applied to them defining what files and where it can read and write to.

Amwoza, the simple answer is no. Limited users do not have the required access to the registry that MC requires.

If I opened up certain registry keys, can I make it so that a member of the Users group can use MC?  Just HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver?

Check out this thread -----> Entirely At Your Own Risk

Decide what you want permission-wise, then set it. Simple as that.
