JRiver Media Center's Video Playback Configurations
« on: May 21, 2015, 02:25:07 pm »

Hi,

Recently, I stumbled across SVP and I liked what it has to offer. To my delight, it works with Media Center. However, I am curious about the setting for LAV Video Decoder in between MC and the ones required by SVP. In SVP, it is necessary to set to DXVA 2 (copy-back) in its Hardware Acceleration. So what about the Auto-configured LAV Video Decoder in MC? What is it set to?

Also, an Audio Renderer called ReClock is optionally included during SVP installation. What if I choose to utilize it for video playback instead of default Windows playback device? Would it make any better? Does MC need ReClock to begin with?

Thank you in advance,

rick

I'm not sure what JRiver's automatic LAV Filtters is set to. However, you can download and install LAV filters and use whatever settings you want by using Tools > Options > Video > General Video Settings > Video mode > Advanced > Custom and then modifying the "Custom video mode settings." This lets you pick the manual installation of LAV Filters.

VideoClock in JRiver works the same as ReClock. Here are some advantages over ReClock per the wiki.

Quote
VideoClock has several key advantages compared with ReClock:

Integrated with the JRiver audio engine, so all other features (JRSS, Room Correction, internal volume, Convolver etc.) are available
Works with all output modes (ASIO, WASAPI, etc.)
Talks directly to madVR to determine the monitor refresh rate so the target ratio is perfect when using madVR

Does MC need ReClock to begin with?

No. MC has that feature built in. It is called VideoClock, and is available here:
Tools > Options > Video > General Video Settings > VideoClock

I'm not 100% sure, but I think MC's implementation is a bit nicer than the one in ReClock as well.

Oops, mojave ninja-ed me.
