I've been running Windows 10 for a few months now on my lounge HTPC running MC20 successfully without issue, so I've decided to go all-in and upgrade my main rig too.

The only frustration I had with it was the text scaling which was a bit fiddly compared to the previous settings in win 7 or 8.1 where you just scale the text with a single setting from a right click Screen Resolution.
In Windows 10 to get the text to a legible size on my LCD TV I had to change the font size of several dropdown menus.

It'll be an interesting upgrade because I have 4way SLI, 3 x monitors in surround and a bunch of devices and custom scripts for my watercooling system monitoring on the Logitech G19 screen.

I'll let you know how I go, or if I end up restoring from a backup!

Well it's in and running without too many problems on build 10130 x64.

I had to uninstall (delete reg settings with keep library) and then reinstall MC20 and it all works great.
Before I did that it wouldn't launch from the new win10 start menu.

I also upgraded my surface pro2.
I hadn't played with the new skins before and I like the new default theatre view skin and how it auto scales with pinch zoom on the surface pro 2. (except it feels like the pinch to zoom is back the front)

The only other problem apart from that was how long the upgrade and all the latest patches took compared to when I did my HTPC.
It seriously took hours, so if your going to do the upgrade give yourself at least 3 hours. Your mileage may vary depending on how fresh your windows installation is and how much hardware you have attached.

I also have the super-slow-boot-bug where it takes minutes to boot, but I found the work around for that.
I created this shortcut on the desktop and it now shuts down and restarts in seconds.

All my other hardware, monitoring and scripts all work apart from the corsair link software for the PSU monitoring which MS have blacklisted.
I've played a few games and 4way SLI and surround still work.

10147 was released internally and has been leaked by the usual Russian users....

10159 may be released to the insider program in the next couple of days.

I reverted to windows 8.1 2 weeks ago from a backup. A couple days ago when Nvidia released 353.30 I upgraded again to windows 10 10130, and 10158 yesterday and 10159 today and it's been much better.

The performance of the video card drivers are back up to where they should be and all my apps work great now.

WP10 has been fine with me. My biggest gripe is there is no WS2012R2 connector = no backup and restore. Not sure this will go down well in Corp World.

It just seems like unnecessary trouble to be installing the Windows 10 preview this close to its final release - especially since it will still be using that ridiculous privacy policy.

It doesn't look like there are Windows 10 drivers available for Creative sound cards yet (I have a Sound Blaster Z) and I don't know that NVIDIA's drivers support DirectX 12 on older (Fermi) GPUs yet, so I'll be waiting for those before upgrading.

Build 10162 is on the slow ring and also available for ISO download.

Looks like msft is starting to remove the extra instrumentation tacked on during beta/tech preview process. Taking steps to certify for RTM.

Still some challenges with included drivers. Use something like 3Dchip to capture your current loaded driver files before overwriting with a new Win10 TP.

RTM to Tier 1 distribution partners could occur as early as 07/10, public RTM/release is still scheduled for 07/29

RTM candidates are starting to 'appear' as leaked iso downloads. 10177 is one of them.

Officially, build 10166 appeared on the fast ring last night (12 July).

There remain some driver file problems, most notably with some of the more obscure touch pad/digitizers, trying to get the 10 point multi-touch working reliably on multiple platforms.

I thought 10158 was stable until I lost the calculator app unexpectedly again.

Don't try to switch to another user from the Start Menu icon - it takes you to the other users desktop without asking for a password & you cannot do anything, such as launch an app or shutdown. Reset button is the only option.

Hopefully 10166 will be better.

Build 10240 is likely to be the RTM, it *may* show up on the fast ring for insiders who also have an active TechNet account......

The RTM (or very, very close RTM build) was released for both fast ring and slow ring users!

Ring users are mostly getting it via a push/update to machines that are already running one of the TP releases.

Some legacy TechNet users can see the 32/64 bit ISOs for download.

I've been running Win10 Preview on my HTPC for ages (fast ring) and appart from nVidia issues has been pretty good but now I "think" I have a UAC issue. I can no longer install MC Updates as the UAC box pops up saying to give it Admin Access but the "OK" button is greyed out. I was using a local account with auto login till a couple of weeks ago but then I stopped getting Fast Ring updates and had to use a Live Account (hate this stuff), so I let Windows covert the install from the Local Account. I'm back to getting FastRing updates and Playstore works again. This account has Admin but now I can not install MC updates!

Any advice on how people are configuring the User Account on HTPCs, I want:
- on power up, login and run MC
- get updates / playstore accesss etc

Well the first RTM Candidate is on the Fast Ring and now removes all the Build Watermarks etc. I finally fixed by lack of Admin account (had to boot into safe mode / command prompt, switch to Administrator command promt, add a local admin account).....

I have mine set up this way in my VM. It is still a local account. You can add a Microsoft account to a local account now for Windows Update purposes and whatnot, without converting it.

I don't remember exactly where it is, but it is in the Metro-style Settings under Updates somewhere. This adds the account for just Windows Update purposes. And then you can sign into the Microsoft Store separately as well:

I have been using a Microsoft account with auto-login on my 8.1 HTPC just fine, so I expect that to continue working on 10 as well.

Just upgraded to W10 - when started MC, I got an error msg that MC was installed for another OS.

Reinstalled MC, all settings still there, MC works fine on my new W10.

I've installed Windows 10 successfully with JRiver 20. But I notice a bit of a "glimmer" to my audio playback. It has been suggested that the OS timer resolution might be the culprit. I am using an ASIO driver from Chord for my Hugo. Does anyone know how one can verify the OS timer resolution settings within JRiver and if so, can they be changed?
