Zones problem
« on: June 21, 2015, 03:53:36 am »

I created two zones on for music and one for movies and I set the audio devices accordingly. I checked and amended the tags for all my music files and video files by applying the media type and media su-btype. So I have video files, some are movies, some are tv series. So far have i done it right?

When I look at my zones, for some reason my video files are listed in my audio zone.  It is not suprising that JRiver doesn't play any audio when I try to watch films. I been trying to sort it out for ages to no avail! I would really be grateful for some help

Do you mean that you have tried to play some video but they have ended up playing in the audio zone? If so, you have to explicitly select the audio zone by clicking on it before selecting the items to play. I think you can alternatively right click on an item and then send it to te relevant zone.

Are you expecting the relevant files to be played in the relevant zones automatically, so audio always goes to the audio zone and video always goes to the video zone? If so, investigate Zone Switch which allows to set set rules that degine in which zone files get played.

I am willing to give you a hand setting up ZoneSwitch if you are still having trouble.  This was a rough issue for me for a long time as well, and once I got it fixed, it was as if a huge dark cloud was lifted from my setup.

Certainly not worth quitting JRiver over!

PM me if you need help.

Sounds daft but it sounds like you may have the rule backwards

I have 5 zones set up and they switch fine

Shout if you need help ...
