Albums View Problem in Remotes
« on: July 16, 2015, 01:36:00 pm »

When you add a new album to your library, and it has the same title than a previous one already included in the same library, both albums get mixed up in the "recent" and "albums" view of Gizmo or JRemote. It should be possible to avoid that by automatically adding the year (retrieving it from the metadata field) as a discrimination factors, next to the title, for every album. Ex:

http://www.discogs.com/Stephan-Bodzin-Powers-Of-Ten/release/6906797 = Power of Ten (2015)
http://www.discogs.com/Chris-de-Burgh-Power-Of-Ten/release/2725411 = Power of Ten (1992)
http://www.discogs.com/Portable-Powers-Of-Ten/release/1180466 = Power of Ten (2007)

That information (the year) doesn't have to appear in the user views (even if it could be nice to add that option), it just have to be marked in the appropriate database file ( should be "field (album).jmd") to differentiate the albums, and make them appears as separate albums.

i hope i have made myself clear...

Check the Album Artist tags.  Start a new thread if you need help.

The Album Artist tag doesn't resolve any of this since it's not the one in use in the "albums" and "recent" views

This is not a bug in MC, but just how your views are setup.
If you set a view to group all Albums, then it will do just that. If two Albums have the same name, then they will end up in the same grouping. MC doesn't care, same value, same grouping.

What you need to do is add two grouping categories hierarchically, or combine two fields into one grouping.
For example:
[Artist] -> [Album]

Or if you have the same Album from the same Artist in different variations, add yet another different field to differentiate them.
MC just does what you tell it to when it comes to views. There is no special magic involved.
