Performer Store audio quality
« on: July 02, 2015, 04:26:07 am »

Hi,
I can't find the info what kind of music files Performer Store is offering if I sign up. I don't want to pay for anyting less than lossless. Anyone knows...?
Thanks!

Lossless in your own library is a lot different than asking a service to stream lossless.  My own LAN is barely up to it, let alone asking the same from the WAN ...

The streaming is compressed WMA.  128Kbps.  Purchased tracks from it are 320K MP3.

The quality is very good, but not lossless.  A 30 day free trial is available.

For lossless streaming, you could try Tidal or Qobuz.

I become interested in Performer Store because of the new Doctor Who service, so Tidal and other streaming services are not an option in this case. I await further developments...

It's not likely that we will offer a lossless service anytime soon.  Tidal was a little difficult to work with and Qobuz isn't a good candidate unless they make it through their financial problems.

For casual listening, lossless is probably overkill.

I just signed up, standard subscription, and downloaded my first album.  It is 128K wma, not 320K mp3. Did I miss something I need to configure?
