1) There is no explanation as to what the login is to.
The feature is just now coming to life, so the interface is still crude.
We're also trying a new way to add features. Right now, it's only available to the beta group, so it won't work for you yet. We hope to expand this in a few days.
The login lets you gain access to the playlists and upload new ones.
2) What does "archival system" mean? (Is it like export/import playlists, only different?)
It has several purposes. Since the playlists are uploaded to our server in the Internet, they serve as a backup for your local playlists.
They are also available to other users, so it's a way for people to see what other people play and to discover music.
We think we can mine this data to establish relationships among artists, and if so, this would allow us to build playlists for you that are more likely to match your tastes and interests in music. For example, if you build playlists with artists A and B, but other users who build playlists with the same artists often include artist C, then we'll somehow offer artist C to you when you use Play
Doctor.
3) What does "download playlists from other users" (Is it like export/import playlists, only different?)
You'll be able to browse playlists that are stored on our server, and download those you find interesting.
What I think "MC will search for and set the file location for anything you have in your library" might mean is that DW (Doctor Who) will resolve any disk/folder discrepancies between an imported (DW) playlist and the extant library.
No. It's finding files online from a legal source and playing samples or full tracks, depending on whether you have a paid membership. Right now, we're using our Performer Store as a source. You can see that in the tree on the left in MC, unless you've turned it off in Tools > Options > Features.
If that is correct, then this is a feature that should be basic to the MC playlist capability, and the developers have been remiss not to include it.
Seriously, the forum here is good, but MC developers really need to up their game get some decent documentation on this fine product.
When the feature is available, there will be a better interface and better documentation.
