Press "Play", lose DAC lock
« on: August 10, 2015, 10:18:13 am »

Every time I select a new album and press "play" my DAC display changes from indicating a frequency lock  to "No Input" and then goes through a re-locking procedure. This means that I am losing the first few seconds of the first track. NB: this happens even if ensuing albums are all of the same sample rate e,g all FLACs @ 16/44.1.

Is this normal? Of course the effect can be ameliorated by setting the pre-buffering to, say, 10 secs. This then means that the locking is completed by the time that the first track starts.

Once the album has been selected and playing starts there is no locking problem if I then switch between tracks. It only happens when the album is changed to another.

Is there a reason for this and is it to be expected?

Sounds like the DAC, none of mine do that (none of them have a lock indicator either)

Are you using direct sound or wasapi/Asio out?
