Does JRiver Media Center 21 support DSD playback? Will future versions include DSD playback and the capability to import and manage digital photographs similar to the Microsoft Windows version? How do I enable DSD playback?

The Linux version supports DSD.

Image playback was just made available in the Linux version yesterday.  It's on the board here.

I do have the Debian Jessie software repository and I checked and I still don't have Media Center 21 yet. How do I get it?

Nevermind. I got it.

First, sudo apt-get remove mediacenter20. Put in your root password and remove the old version.

Second, sudo apt-get update. Put in your root password and let it update. Then, sudo apt-get install mediacenter21. Put in your root password and let it download and install the new version.

Do I have to restore my J River Media Center 21 master license again? Let me know if I need to do this or not. How can I check if it is licensed?

It works! I can now set DSD bitstream to yes and I can import digital photographs. Does J River Media Center 21 support importing and managing digital photographs? Please let me know.

I got J River Media Center 21 64 bit for Debian Jessie GNU/Linux. There have been important new features and capabilities that have been added to the GNU/Linux version that give it more features parity with the Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh OS X versions. First, DSD-64/128/256 bit stream playback is now supported. Second, importing and managing digital photographs is now supported. If you previously purchased a J River Media Center 21 GNU/Linux or master license and installed the previous version, then you can add the official J River software repository and GPG signing key and upgrade without having to restore your license for the new version.

1. sudo apt-get remove mediacenter20
2. sudo apt-get update
3. sudo apt-get install mediacenter21

If you use Google Chrome, then you will need to exit your web browser and open a terminal and type in aplay -l. Once that is done, take a look at your digital sound card to ensure that it says Subdevices: [1/1]. Launch J River Media Center 21 and select the correct sound card in the Tools -> Options - Audio Device. Configure the auto import feature to include the current location of your digital photographs, music, and videos. Run the import process and wait until it is done. Pick the right music album or video and press play. You should be golden!

However, I can not get DSD 5.1 or 6 channel to play. I have Pink Floyd's Hotel California recorded in DSD 6.0 channel and J River Media Center 21 won't play it. I do own an Oppo Digital HA-1 DAC and headphone amplifier and it supports two channel stereo. Could this be the reason why?

Image management should work.  There may be problems, but I don't know of any yet.

You can try opening DSP Studio and going to the Output Format section and setting the Channels to 2 channels.
