I'm a Verizon person looking to get my first smartphone (yeah, I know).

I'm looking for a phone that offers microSD memory expansion but, more importantly, provides superior sound quality for FLAC playback. Models on my shortlist at the moment are from LG and HTC, but I'm open to anything outside of Apple's closed world.

I was initially very jazzed to learn of a new model from Marshall (a licensee of the amplifier-maker's name), until I learned that while it has terrific DAC specs, its actual phone electronics are yesterday's news. Ideally, the phone will replace my DAP (presently an AK 120, which could have been great if iRiver actually offered support and periodic firmware upgrades...sigh).
