Ripping issue MC 21
« on: September 01, 2015, 05:57:16 pm »

I have been ripping some of my cds. I ripped one and when I put in a new disk by a different group, the old information showed as if I was ripping the prior cd. I closed MC21, reopened it, reinserted the new disk. Same issue. I then requested update from online database. This gave the correct tract information but appears to maintain the album cover image from the prior cd in the section above it. I have had similar issues with MC20. Is this something I am doing or a bug in the program?

There was some bug like this reported, I remember vaguely. I don't know the details, but you might try searching the forum.

In searching the forum for Ripping Problems there are 23 pages. I think that there is a bug somewhere in the software. Since this is a beta version, I hope you research and fix this problem. I have a screen shot but it is in a MS Word document so I wasn't able to upload it. Let me know if you want a screen shot and how to get a doc file to you.

I don't work for JRiver.  I don't know if it was a bug, or something wrong with the reporter's computer, or what it was, but I remember seeing something similar.

I spent about 3 minutes searching, and found this recent thread:

There's surely more, if you get the right search terms. I often find Google does a better job searching the forum than the built-in search. Add your search terms to the end of this search:

Thanks....I thought you worked for JRiver and it seemed strange to me, with that assumption, to suggest searching the forum. Thanks again for your suggestions...I agree, finding things on the forum isn't as easy as one would expect.

The confusion is understandable. Most of the Mods here do work for JRiver, except me and jmone.  I've done a little side-consulting work for them, more recently, but mostly I just help out on the forum with spam and keeping the natives in line.

The boards are followed by JRiver staff. In that last thread I found, Adam wanted a log file from the user, so perhaps recreating the issue and capturing a Log package might help:

It's possible there was a regression from their fix he referenced, but my guess would be that you found a more unlikely edge case that causes it. You mentioned that it happened when you ripped a second disc by the same artist.  Can you reproduce it with other, unrelated discs?

The problem actually occurred with an unrelated artist. I am still ripping so I shall see if I can reproduce it. I know I had this problem in JR20 (I did find my posting) although back on 20 the program would not acknowledge that a disc had been inserted. This time it only reports tracks from a prior disc until I closed the program and then upon reopening hit the update from online but that wasn't a complete fix.

Oh yeah, you said that. Oops. Reading comprehension fail. In any case, see if you can figure out anything specific that causes it, and capture it in a Log. That's the best hope to get it quashed.
