The new tagging window that divides the tags into categories is very helpful, but mine seems to have disappeared. It's reverted back to the old alphabetical order. How do I switch it back?
-
Hold the shift key down while you click on tag in the tree view. (I must admit I'm not sure this worked for me every time, but it seems to now.)
My question is what happened to Album Artist (auto) in the new view? I know it is a calculated field, but when troubleshooting tagging problems it can be useful to know what it contains.

It's still there.

I must be going blind then. In the general section of the tag panel (sorry if my nomenclature is inaccurate) I see:
Name
[Space]
Artist
Album Artist
[Space]
Album
Genre
Date
[Space]
Track #
Disc #
[Space]
Rating
I don't see it in any of the other sections either. If I toggle back to the old tag interface, I can find it. Is that the only way to see it?

right click inside the tagging pane, and select "Customise Fields"
now you can have Album Artist (auto) wherever you want to see it
make a section that has only the tags you want to see, it's a very useful feature

Thanks

One quirk I find with the new tagging panel (using MC 22 and Windows 10) - when I Tab I don't always move to the next tag item. Sometimes I do, but mostly not. If I switch back to the old panel, Tabbing moves me forward as normal.

Tab works fine here 100% of the time with the new tag window and MC23. There's been a lot of fixes, improvements and adjustments with the new tag window in MC23.

Pardon the pun 😉
