Title: MultiInfo V2.20
Post by: DJ_Hazelwood on April 09, 2004, 03:04:18 am
As Cascius and i were working almost on the same things, we decided to put our work together.
And we have really much fun on realizing this Euro-American project.

Cascius was working on the graphics for the new skinning-feature and i did some more html/js-coding.

DJ and I are also open to suggestions regarding adding more layouts.
When doing so try to inculde the following info:

Cool as always.  Since I'm eternally selfish I'll share some thoughts...

- the toggle buttons (image/vis) don't seem to work
- as cool as the JS buttons are, I'd still like an option for regular scrolling (with mousewheel if possible)

The code looks clean enough that when I have some time I can add the additional fields I want on my own.  Don't sweat it trying to make a big JS menu for selecting every possible combination.

A much bigger project that may not even be possible with this type of plugin is to read album metadata from a text file.  There would only be one .txt in each directory where there are music files, so scanning for the first one in the current file's path would be sufficient.  It would then be displayed on a tab alongside Bios, Notes, etc.  Since I'm probably the only person in the world interested in this feature, a simple pointer on where to begin looking in the SDK would already be more help than I deserve.

We'll need more info to figure out why you're haing this problem. (i.e. with which layout, what screen resolution, etc...)

There are some situations where it might be confusing though:
Hope this helps, otherwise give us more info.

We'll look into it. Can't promise anything.  :-\ It seems that MC controls the scroll wheel and the right mouse button. Therefore it might not be possible. We'll see.

As far as that .txt project, we already have a lot of functions we'd like to implement so don't count on it; or at least for now.

Well first of all, you guys are doing an amazing job... You guys have the market corned on track info templates..........

A few things though..

http://www3.sympatico.ca/imjustagamer/Trackinfo.JPG

This is in small4
Is there a way to bring out another size that will stretch the whole width. There seems to be some wasted space on my screen. Also It be cool to get rid of the gap at the top.

For the setup tab... This is just amazing... But a little hard to see

For the vis... Can you add the MC logo that Olivier had in his mega me skin... It was awsome.

And is there a way to remove the name of the band and track title away from the vis?

All in all, thanks and keep up the amazing work!

Sorry guys one other thing  ::)  Don't cha just love people that ask for too much...

I am not really a vis kind of person, so I was wondering if there was a way to diplay the coverart in both the right and the left?

Thanks again/

Yes for both. We will bring out more layouts in the next releases.

For the setup tab... This is just amazing... But a little hard to see

We have planned to include graphics for buttons in one of the next versions. Then it will be better.

For the vis... Can you add the MC logo that Olivier had in his mega me skin... It was awsome.

This is a question for Olivier. I'm sure you will get response as soon as he's online.

And is there a way to remove the name of the band and track title away from the vis?

We don't add anything to the vis. If it displays some text this comes from the vis itself.

I am not really a vis kind of person, so I was wondering if there was a way to diplay the coverart in both the right and the left?

Not in the current version, but maybe in the future ...

It looks so great now because of cascius' skins.

Yes, you can change the sizes and positions.
They are in the layout-files (in the layout-directory).

My bad.  I'm using large 2.  Sure enough I see the vis if I go to full screen.  Even then the bottom is cut off (1280x960).

I'm not a graphic designer so I can't suggest a better alternative; I'm sure you guys will come up with something.

Oh, I definitely don't expect you guys to do this big project just for me.  I'll find a way to do it myself -- just not now -- and wanted to make sure it was ok to use your plugin as a basis.

hi to both dj and casius!! 8)

DJ, i tried to look arounf the css files in the layout and it seems much more complex then the first version which i had no problems to change, is there a help file about the css file like before to explain what exatcly each line does? i basicly just want a template with one half as a big lyrics box (as much as the screen in 800x600) and in the seconf half of the screen album cover with track info in the bottom and Viz the rest of it,:like i said i dont mind changing it myself like before in the css file yet it seems complicated this time

another Q i have is if it will be possible to use the great new G-force plugin as Viz since it dosent sit in the normal MC viz place, it has amazing Viz and it would be great to combine them in the track info, just a thought  ;D

thx again to both of you guys for your great work

Zeltak  :)

Guys

small request: what about adding an album review tab?

after using alans atagger i have a bunch of album reviews. they are currently stored under comment (which works fine on your work) but this now messes up in the updated dreamstate (plus) vis.

i use both and cant think of an easier way to display all the info i want and still have both work

let me know your thoughts

As soon there is some time to write it we will provide a short-docu.

And we will have a look at t he G-force plugin. Maybe we can do something, i don't know at the moment.

Maybe that this will come.

At the moment you could use the info-tab.

You just have to replace the 'TrackInfo_Insert(Info)' entry with the field-name of your review-field (something like 'TrackInfo_Insert(Review) ' in the 'index.html' within the multiinfo-directory.

Hope this helps.

We've asked for the permission to implement gforce, but no answer so far.

The documentation for the css-files will be included in the next version (hopefully this weekend).

Now for the request,
I love the Middle size, that's great...
I am not a fan of vis's I just don't really use them, Is there a way that we can have an option to display the cover art on both sides instead of a cover art and a vis?

Thanks,

Hi Zeltak!

As i said before, we asked for the permission to use G-force within our Info Template, but no response so far.

There should come a version where you can change the content of the panes very easy. But there is still some work to do.

Hi Guys,
Is there a way to list something in the template one after each other, instead of on the same line... Like this...

1. Jailbreak (Scott/Young/Young) - 4:40;2. You Ain't Got a Hold on Me (Scott/Young/Young) - 3:30;3. Show Business (Scott/Young/Young) - 4:43;4. Soul Stripper (Young/Young) - 6:23;5. Baby Please Don't Go (Williams) - 4:50

To:

1. Jailbreak (Scott/Young/Young) - 4:40;
2. You Ain't Got a Hold on Me (Scott/Young/Young) - 3:30;
3. Show Business (Scott/Young/Young) - 4:43;
4. Soul Stripper (Young/Young) - 6:23;
5. Baby Please Don't Go (Williams) - 4:50

I tried selecting List semi deliminted in the tree settings, but that doesn't work....

Any ideas?

Ok, i got the multinfo visualization installed, started playing a song and choose the multinfo visual which it displays. The problem is all it does is show text about the album under the main tab, how do i get it to also show the album cover and 3d visual running like the picture shows on the thread.

Yup, DJ's taking care of it :P

We've both been very busy with work and you know how that goes...

But anyway, good news: I'm 90% sure i've found a way to create a flash anim that would use variables from mc.

If that happens, that means we'll be able to have some kick ass effects all over the place :D

I'll try to look into it some more in the coming up days.

MultiInfo V2.20 is up.

It now supports the new Aruba skin.

You can download it from MCs 'Skins & Plugins' page.

Hope you like it  :)

I just paid attention to this thread and I'm glad I did as this is now my main Track Info page. I was using BlueNote because I like seeing the lyrics so was pleasantly pleased when it remembers the page I last left it on, even after closing and restarting MC. Nice job!

I have two questions though. I don't have all my tags filled out for every song but I eventually figured out what information all the buttons bring up except for Info. What's supposed to display there?

Also, I hate to say it, but I'm like imjustagamer:
I am not really a vis kind of person, so I was wondering if there was a way to diplay the coverart in both the right and the left?
Not in the current version, but maybe in the future ...

It's been awhile and the next version came out. Maybe the next version?  ;)

Info is like Comments and Notes.... You can put anything you want...

In Info, I have the Song Review from AllMusic..

And yes, this is a GREAT template.... Should be on everybody's computer!!

Just make a user library field named info.
The content of this field will be displayed in the info-pane.

And ... coverart right and left ...  yes, maybe next version  ;)

Ahhh, no wonder I couldn't find an Info tag. You have to create it!

Or you can create a vis that just shows the cover art...

In a text file, paste the following:

<MJV Version="1.0">
<Component GUID="63B96C06-29A4-4de2-9A9D-9F3E08F8C014" Name="Image">
<Properties>
<OnEquation>on=beat</OnEquation>
<ImageFile>COVER_ART</ImageFile>
<RenderDelayMilliseconds>0</RenderDelayMilliseconds>
<RenderDuration>0</RenderDuration>
<MainRectangle>0,0,1,1</MainRectangle>
<MaintainAspectRatio>1</MaintainAspectRatio>
<ImageChangeEquation></ImageChangeEquation>
</Properties>
</Component>

</MJV>

Then Name it - CoverArt
Place it in a folder named Coverart and put the folder in the Vis Directory in MC,

I agree, the cover art vis works for me. No changes needed now!

Edit: Came up with an issue though. I have an cover art for one song that is 194 wide by 48 high pixels. The right side cover art shows it fine. However the left side cover art, the one that comes with MultiInfo elongates the height so it fills the box. Is there any way to fix that?

To do that, you would need a java script that resizes height and width while keeping the proportions. It cannot (as far as i know) be done in simple html.

- Cas

Another option would be to use a cover art vis where we currently have the cover art. :D

That wouldn't be a bad idea... That way the user could have the cover art on the other side or 2 different vis's going....

I guess I don't understand.  Imjustagamer gave a solution to create a covert art vis so we could have cover art on the right side. What he gave works great with the small height image file, so it can be done. I assume then that the vis code does something special that just displaying a cover art image can't be done?

You have to create your own version of the Aruba skin for MultiInfo to get that result. Just invert all the graphics and change the coding for the colors in the css files.

:o

This is new territory for me!

So, what I do is open all the graphics in Photoshop and invert them right?

Then I open the main.css file and change all the color codes right?

What's the best way to find out what the right color codes should be?

Thanks.

Hey Cas, I've tried this now.
If i use a second vis instead of the cover-art it works fine for the first time.
But if i stop playing and start again MC shows the same vis in both areas.

That is not exactly what we want  :(  ?

And i don't know if there is a workaround  ?

Hi DJ, If you have a version with the Vis on both sides, would I be able to grab a copy? I'm not interested in having 2 different vis's on it, so this version would suite my needs...

Thanks

Hmmm, Then I think what we need is a Java script that will resize the image proportionally.

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to change the default tabs?

I wouldn't mind being able to change the Comments tab to something else...

THanks!

Is it possible to change the default tabs?

It is possible if you make some changes in the index.html:

In the 'NAVIGATION'-section you can change the Tab-header (currently it is 'Comm.')
In the 'Comment'-section you can replace the 'TrackInfo_Insert(Comment) with any field from your library. You could also change the class from 'TextScr' which means 'scrolling text' to 'TextLarge' or 'TextSmall'.
Or you could insert a table with more than one field as you can see in the 'Main'-section of the html-file.

Just backup your index.html and try it  ;)

I'm having fun going through the HTML.... I have no idea about HTML, but some of it is straight forward.

Hey DJ....

You know how the links for Lyrics, Bio etc... appear between the end of the cover art and the beginning of the Vis...
How can I spread that out so it is the full length?

Thanks,

Hi,

this is a question of the layout.
You can find the different layout-files within the 'MultiInfo\Layout'-folder.

If we take a look at the 'large1.css' for example, there is the following section:

...

.TabNavA, .TabNavB, .TabNavC, .TabNavD         { text-align:center; cursor:hand }
.TabNavA, .TabNavB, .TabNavC, .TabNavD         { font-size:10pt; width:48px }

...

Here you can play with different 'width'-settings to change the width of the tabs.

And ... don't forget to share your changes with us  ;)
