13. Fixed: Thumbnails from internal for videos or internal cover art could be blank or mismatched in some cases. (use Options > Tree & View > Erase All Thumbnails... to correct)
Not solved. I still have empty and mixed cover art in every view.
Thanks for all the other points.

Make sure you erase all your thumbnails, and then restart MC. If you removed them properly, you'll see MC building thumbs when you view the files again.
-
Erased all thumnails and restarted more than once, seeing the thumbs building again one by one. Still the same. Missing thumbnails (but showing while playing the tracks) or mixed up ones in 'library view' or for ex. 'recently imported'.

What file types?
Anyone else see this?

MP3, album art stored inside. No other types.

Could you try a few files with album art stored outside?
Thanks.

A similar problem.

We think the problem is that some plugins aren't providing their internal images in a thread-safe manner.
Look for a fix in the next few days.

I had the same issue with my internal cover art in APE files.
Try creating thumbsnails under Options >> Tree & View >> Thumbnails
That solved it for me 99% - with just the one or the other odd exception I havent figured out yet...

Something that may be related.
From the problem I had in the other thread, I did a add from file on all files from the albums affected.
I looked at some of the directories just to make certain that the files were not write protected, hidden, etc.
Some files clearly have the art inside or if an APL have the cover art path added to them. Others do not. I judged this by file size of the APLs. If they were 400-500 bytes, they do not have the info. If > 1Kb they do.
Looking at file properties with MC proved this.
I have MC set to store cover art in the file.
So right now some do, some don't. For these I know they were all added at the same time from MC. And, if I look at the tooltip, these files all show cover art.

That's why I pointed to 'last imported'. There I know for sure how the images were importet. I always pasted them from clipboard. No plugin.

That MC shows the wrong tumbnail now with .166 happens, but very very rarely. Don't see that a plug in is causing this, but who knows.
What happens more often, is that the tumbnail will not be shown. But after switching to detail style and back, the tumbnail is shown.
Here is an example of showing the wrong picture. MP3 with stored picture inside.

One more thing: If I delete all thumnails and let build them again previously not shown images are correct and vice versa. And some previously correct shown albums now have the same cover as their neighbor or no cover at all etc. So I doubt about the incorrect imported images theory....

I haven't noticed thumbnail problems in MC (yet?), but the new forum software scales too big images to the width of 640 pixels and/or height of 480 pixels. It's good, but if the image contains text it may become unreadable. So if the image size exceeds that limit a link should be added. For example like this:
(http://img7.exs.cx/img7/6200/missingtumbnail23xt.jpg) (http://img7.exs.cx/img7/6200/missingtumbnail23xt.jpg)
Link to hi-res image: http://img7.exs.cx/img7/6200/missingtumbnail23xt.jpg
EDIT
It is even better to make a small thumbnail image and link it with the hi-res image:

167 should fix this.
168 will be out soon with a fix for the options bug.
Thanks, and let us know.
-
Using 168 and no more problems. Cover art is on it's place fo me.
Matt,
THANKS!
-
Until now absolutly no more problems with tumbnails using .168...
;D :D ;D
Thank you

Thanks guys.
Glad to hear it's working, and sorry for the hassle. The good news is our new multi-threaded approach should be a fair chunk faster on most systems.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just tack my question onto this one.
Is there any way to change the physical location of where the thumbnails are stored?
With thumbnails for 72,000 files, the size of my "Thumbnails" directory is now 988 MB. The reasons I'd like to move this are two-fold. First, I use Ghost to backup my system drive, and I don't want to add this to the image. Second, I would rather put them all on my much faster raid drive.

Thumbnails are stored beneath the library. You can keep your library anywhere using Library Manager.
As always, make a backup before you start.

No kidding?? Interesting. For some odd reason, I thought with MC11 our libraries were now being restricted to our Windows' %USERPROFILE% directory, so I never thought about looking. This is great. Thanks!
