Is there any chance this combination will work. Certainly win98 will be the limiting factor. I'll check Apple's or Microsoft's web sites to see if there is an iPod driver for win98.
Also, the new iPod mini is not recognized by my laptop running WinXP Pro. My 2G iPod is fine on my laptop. I have loaded iTunes and formatted the new mini. I'm pretty sure I also initialized it in MC. I'll have to write down my steps and add to this post once I get home. I have also loaded the handheld plugin, although I thought I saw on another thread this isn't necessary.
I guess bottom line is how to get the new iPod mini working with MC 10.0.173 on my XP internet connected laptop. I'll worry about my son's machine later.
TIA for any help,
MikeB.

Vaguely remember them saying the mini was not supported even in MC 11 yet. Hopefully not for long.

Steve can say with certainty, but I believe the mini is working in MC11. The shuffle is not and the iPod Photo is supported only for music.

Mini works with MC. The 98 part is a little tricky. There is some information in old threads on Interact that might help.

Well, I'm partway there. I found USB drivers for the WIN98 machine, so the PC recognizes the iPod mini as a drive. I loaded a trial version of Anapod (which explicitly states it supports the mini) and it recognizes it and can list the songs and playlists. The trial version doesn't allow any song transfers, but it's a sign of progress.
I'll try MC (I guess 11 first, then 10) on that machine tonight to see if I have any better luck.

MikeB,
When you go to use it with MC, right click on the iPod in the tree and select 'Initialize'. You will lose any data on the mini, but stand a good chance of things working from there.
