This version doesn't start up at all.
No errors given. It just freezes when window is built up.
-
Same problem here. Version starts but then hangs up completely without any errors displayed. YXou have to force shut down (ctrl-alt-del) but same again if you restart it.
I think this version should be pulled swiftly and replaced by a new one.

I'm not able to reproduce this. Try disconnecting any devices and then rebooting. Let us know if it makes a difference.
Thanks.

Check the Windows Task Manager to see if you can find a MediaCenter.exe process running. Kill if it's there. Then start.
What language version of Windows do you use?
-
I did notice that this version was running a little slower... I rebooted my computer and all was OK,
-

Its German version of Win XP Pro here
-
Will reboot and do another try. But got some video encoding running into H.264 which will take a few more hours before i can reboot
Will let you know then

I have dxone further testing after a full reboot of the computer. Does not change anything. MC11 simply does not react and has to be forced to shut down.

hi!
Win XP Pro german, no other Mediacenter process running, reboot doesnt help.
I have installed thw german language plugin adn the itunes skin.
I also have the same problem with build 46. All builds before 45 where fine.

Thanks Kriese, saves me downloading .46 and messing around more.
The options are awful though: Stick with .44 and the sorting is screwed up, stick with .43 or before and MediaServer doesnt work....
Cummon guys at JRiver, time for version .47 ;D :D

MC continues to "Freeze" in Version 46

Turn on logging by adding this registry key if it's not there:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Debug
Then, add:
DWORD "File"=1
DWORD "Type"=2047
After that, start MC and let it hang. Then look at the file here:
D:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Log.txt
What is showing at the end? Could you email a copy to matt @ jriver.com?
Thanks.
-
I have done as requested but dont find any log.txt. file (done search on my c: drive as well...)
For more detail, I have Reg_DWORD File set to 1
and Reg_DWORD Type set to 2047
just as requested. Both values are hexadezimal. Or should they be dezimal ?
B
-
There is also a Reg_DWORD "Debug String" which is set to 0
Does that mean anything ??
Sorry but registry changes is not what i do usually
B
-
I think Matt meant 2047 Decimal which is 0x7ff in hex.
:)
-
Handheld sync works fine now. Files that should be converted are, those that shouldn't be aren't.
Thanks!
-
Matt, it doesnt even created a log for the versions freezing after Launch (build 45 & 46)
I cleared the log, then installed the off versions, checked log. Nothing. Installed build 44 - and that created a log. Happy to send that but not sure it will help you.
Very weird.

I got the freeze too =(
Went back to 11.0 official release.. Error library incompatible, and my last backup was months ago.
An automatic monthly backup would be awesome. Maybe it has that feature I just didnt notice the option?
-
Does anyone have the problem with a version OTHER than German?
-
It looks like the problem on ichkreiege's machine is when MC tries to initialize the "'Nero Fast CD-Burning Plug-in" which shows on the system as a WMDM handheld device.
There must be some incompatability. We'll test on our end.
In the meantime, what happens if you disable the Nero burning plugin?
Thanks. (and thanks Stephan for the log)
-
Hi!
Thanks for your help Matt.
Disabling the Nero plugins solves the startup issue.

On my machine MC freezed, too. Deinstalling Nero helped.
-
Should be fixed with the build that just went up. Let us know.
Thanks.
-
Matt,
yep, all fine with me
