Doof,
I can't get the color indicators to work in MC12. Is it just me?
Randy
-
it may because the way MC now forces a skin color to some controls

Maybe that's it. I find it very handy to use color's to indicate if lyrics are missing. I hope the MC12 design does not prevent this.
-
Doof,
When you verify Lyrics Editor with MC12, could you check it against the standard Noire skin with and without Negative Skin Effect? My guess is that most people using the new Noire default skin are using the Negative Skin Effect.
Other than small adjustments for skin compatibility – the only issue I have found is the one relating to colors (the opening in this thread)
I know all of this is presumptive – but I now depend on your plug-in.

Why would you guess that?
-
Why would you guess that?
My guess is because of the white background - when you do a right click, as an example in the details pane, the background of the drop down is also white. This makes it hard to read (white on white). When you use the negative effect - everything is clear.
Maybe my guess is wrong - but that is why I guessed the way I did.
-
Everyone always has their own opinion. I personally don't like the Negative effect - too much black. Instead, I got rid of the transparent menus and have no problem seeing the menus now.

I looked all over and could not find an option to turn off the transparent menus. With a search I found a thread that discusses it. There is no option, you have to modify the skin.
I also found that glynor has come to the rescue. You can download SolidNoire from her. Thanks glynor ;D
With transparent menus off, the screen is much more readable. I still like negative, but it is very black. At least now I can go back and forth when I need a change of pace. :-\

No problems reading the standard skin here. White on black on the other hand gives me a headache - I hate when web pages go that route and don't bother even trying to use them.
Results will depend on personal preferences and the quality/brightness of your monitor.

That's how I got my solid menus. I was finally going to go in and modify it myself until glynor posted the change. If it hasn't yet been submitted to JRiver's skin page, it should be.
-
MC12 broke the plugin. I've tried to use MC's built in methods for turning off skinning of the plugin, but I can't get it to work, and I think the JRiver guys are a little busy to try and help me figure it out.

(I know my avatar's a girl, but that's my friend Christina. Sorry!)
I haven't submitted it myself yet because I wasn't sure if they'd want MC12 skins available on there until after the Beta program is opened up to everyone. You know, the secrecy and all that. As soon as it's opened up, I'll submit it.

Just wanted to say, from your web site:
Contact Me
On second thought, don't.
Classic. ;D

So much for assumptions. Anyway, thanks... :-[

I personally think Noire w/Negative effect is ugly as sin.

S'all Good. :D

As long as I'm assuming wrong on everything - I assume you won't make a Noire Negative look to your plug-in. ;)
But in anycase, this is a great plug-in so I'll use it regardless.
You must admit, Noire Negative will be great for halloween. ;D

You won't so easily lure me in with your reverse psychology... :P
Besides, the Negative effect seems to affect my plugin, too. Nothing like white text on a black background!
But in anycase, this is a great plug-in so I'll use it regardless.
Thanks. One of these days (if I can ever pry myself away from my new 57" HDTV) I'll have to get around to updating it. A couple of requested features are already in, and one of two bug fixes (I think). I just got hung up on one other bug and never got around to finishing it.

It's actually not the black that bugs me. It's the whole player bar area. It definitely wasn't designed to be that color. Maybe a combination of the default Noire player bar with the rest of the skin looking like the Negative version would be pretty cool.

I agree 8)
Even the standard Noire messes up your plug-in, I'm not sure why that happens. Also they did something to screw up your color indicators which are very handy.
The biggest problem I see with Noire (other than it messing up your plug-in) are the menus when you do a right click. I agree that using SolidNoire helps, but they are still harder to see than any other skin I've looked at.
-
Doof,
Have they (J River) given you any of the tools needed to fix the color feature (different color for no lyrics, have lyrics,..)? I saw they did something to disable skinning for plug-ins but I don’t know if that is the same thing you need for this.
This small feature really improves productivity, especially when reviewing a large amount of data.

Yeah, the color problem has been taken care of. I just haven't released the version that has that fix in it.
If you're comfortable with registry editting, there's a new registry setting that they added to MC12 that would probably do the trick with the current version of Lyrics Editor, but I don't have the time right now to dig it up. It was talked about in the MC12 forum, though.

All you need to do is go into the plug-in registry keys and add key "Skin" and make the value "0"
this should fix it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Plugins\Interface\Plug-In Name\Skin = Value 0

I don't have that registry line for Lyrics Editor. I'll wait until Doof releases his latest version.

Doof,
I don't have that line in the registry either.
Is it possible you could release the version you updated?
Thanks... Randy

Doof,
We are not having luck finding the registry setting, but I think that may be only used for skinning anyway. The color control within the controls themselves is probably something different. This is where you allow us to set options on what color to use if lyrics exist or are missing.
Is it possible you could release the version you updated?
Thanks... Randy
-
You can just add the key guys as Kingsparta suggests, it won't break anything.
And the colours are broken because it's not set.
-
Yes, adding it yourself does fix the problem. To be clear, the whole key is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Plugins\Interface\Lyrics Editor\Skin with value of 0. Skin is defined as a String Value.
-
Thanks, DC, that worked like a charm. Following your reg path (and with Sparta's guidance), I was able to do this also. Randy, if the prospect of tweaking reg settings turns your stomache like it did mine, I will gladly post step-by-step instructions.
-
I hate (am afraid of) 2 things. Spiders and editing the registry. My wife takes care of the spiders, so I don't have to worry about that one.
jgreen, I appreciate your offer, but decided to hold my breath and give it a go.
It worked. :o ;D

I just posted Lyrics Editor 2.12.
Details in this (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=36705.0) thread.
