Always used internal volume, but on my new system, volume controls don't work, not even mute. 17.0.85, WASAPI output.
-
As a test, try Direct Sound. Report back if that works,
-
Double-check that you're still set to Internal Volume. Is it possible it got changed somehow?
-
Same issue.
ASIO and Direct... make no diff here.
It is like the Vol control is disabled for both Internal and System Vol, the only diff is I get a slider I can move with Internal Vol checked, and I don't with System Vol checked, but Vol remains unchanged.
(Win XP Pro/SP3/32)

Yeah, just tried Direct Sound, made no difference, no volume control works, not even mute. This is with windows 7.
-
Different system with different soundcard still cant change volume.

Does it matter how you try to change volume? What if you grab the slider in Standard View and drag it?
-
I've tried everything, even keyboard shortcuts,no changes to volume.
-
Anything I can do to get volume control back?
-
Take a look at any other software that uses volume. It may be keeping it to itself. Even something like a mouse driver.
-
There were some recent changes to when / how we save volume settings, so that's suspicious.
But I can't reproduce the problem.
What happens if you switch volume modes to Disabled, Internal, etc.?
Are you using a Portable Install or doing anything else special?
Thanks.
-
Also, what are you playing? If it doesn't go through the JRiver audio engine, we can't use Internal volume. This rules out video bitstreaming or anything playing in a browser like Netflix.
-
System volume works as normal, can change volume and mute, but internal makes no changes. Disabled just disables the slider and says 'NA' in the tooltip, which I assume is correct.
The only reason I assumed it was a J River issue is because I tried it on a different system (different soundcard, motherboard, everything) and I still can't change volume.
I've tried all output modes including asio, internal volume makes no changes - I mean the software allows changes, even the ouput says "Adjust volume by x db for internal volume", but the change does not occur, not even mute.
I'm just playing music, mp3 and flac.

Spinal Tap....on a scale of 1 - 10, crank it to 11 ;D

Ah, I see the problem. It'll be fixed soon.
The workaround is to enable a DSP plugin, even if it's doing nothing (Output Format with 'No changes' selected would be good).
Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks! ;D

Matt, maybe you could add this as a feature. I could just set my hardware volume and give my wife the keyboard during a movie. She can adjust the volume all she wants but nothing will really happen. ;D

My wife asks me to turn up the volume more than she asks me to turn it down.
It's one of the things I love most about her.
Maybe I should send this to her for Valentine's Day?
