tried order JR remote for blind man - no longer for sale
« on: March 24, 2016, 03:45:51 pm »

I went to http://yabb.jriver.com/interact to order the JRiver remote with IR Emitte for a blind man. I clicked on "US Order" but it just said error - no longer available.

This will be used only for audio after I set up an album to play, we just need a few functions: pause/play,  skip track, rewind, and volume (using IR emitter to external amp)

Is this really not available?
Somewhere I think I saw something that said it is for theatre mode. Is there a way to set it up so we can get the functions listed for controlling audio and forget anything that requires a screen? maybe a couple keystrokes?

Or is there another answer for this?  I presume Gizmo wont work as it requires sight (never used gizmo, just read about it).

any info would be appreciated, thanks,

The JRiver remote was a clone of the OEM RC-6 Windows MCE remote.

If you cannot purchase it via JRiver, take a look on Amazon or ebay. Something like this

http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Microsoft-Center-Control-Receiver/dp/B006TPPVKE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1458858914&sr=8-4&keywords=mce+ir+emitter+cable

should do the trick.

thank you very much for this pointer.

the reviews on amazon are quite good.

I will study this a bit more and probably try this.
