IdPi - SSH Access
« on: June 12, 2017, 03:16:51 pm »

Hello,

I just installed a new home server that has some pretty high power consumption.  I want to implement a few timers to shut it down automatically a few hours a day, but would need to have something on my network to SSH to and wake it up, or run local scripts on.  I was thinking of getting a Raspberry Pi to do this and it makes sense to then start on Engen and Z-Wave projects at the same time.  Do we have access to SSH into the IdPi?  Do we have root access?

Thanks!

There isn't login access but MC, JRemote, and Gizmo can use Wake on Lan.  There is a wiki topic here:

There are also some WOL apps available on the Play Store and App Store.

Shoot.  I should have clarified, I would need to remotely SSH into my network to manually wake it, or setup crontab jobs to wake it automatically.  Something on my phone would only work when inside the network - I'm willing to expose an SSH port, but not a magic packet port  :)

Thanks for the fast response.
