Tagging sidecar row height, does not scale to font size
« on: August 30, 2017, 09:04:14 pm »

Hi -

The new tagging sidecar interface looks great except that the row height is not tall enough to accommodate the font. Have I missed a setting?

Thanks -

What font and size are you using?  Are you using Retina mode?

To be clear, you seem to be talking about the Tagging Window that appears on the left and covers up the Navigation Tree Window, correct?

I am using Century Gothic 12pt, if I go any smaller I can't read the data in the Pane.

Thanks -

Under the View menu, try setting Size.  I'm not certain it's available on Mac, but worth a try.

Retina mode, too.

I can't find Century Gothic on my Mac.  I'm using Helvetica 30 point.  Size is set to 100%.  Retina mode is enabled.  My tagging window looks normal; no cutting off the text vertically.

I'm not sure what's going on.  Maybe try some fonts that are included with the base installation of OSX like I am.  Just as a test.

Good luck.

Thanks - I'll try using a stock font.

However, ever since I started trying to adjust the sidecar, MC23 insists on opening with everything at 10pt.
I'll adjust it to 12pt, save the view and close the program.
When I reopen, it's back to 10pt.
I go to load the view I just created, it is listed, but when I load it, everything is at 10 pt.

Thanks -

I don't understand what you've done.  "Adjust the sidecar."  "Load the view I just created."

I'm not sure if you are:

* Using the Customize menu option in the new Tagging Window
* Setting up split views
* Making a new Audio view (like Albums or Artists)
* Editing/modifying/creating a custom skin

I believe I am trying to use an existing split view, because I'm not using the Customize menu, making an album view or modifying a skin.

Now whenever I try to make an changes in Tools/Options, i get the Info message "audio file location cannot be read only" and the program hangs.  The thing is, I haven't made any changes to the audio file location.

I'm not sure what could be wrong as I don't think I've seen that error before.  I did a search and found a couple of people with the error, but nothing stood out other than one person saying that he changed file permissions and the error went away.

Are you running Media Center 23 from the Applications folder?  Did you install it there?  Or are you running it from the DMG that you downloaded?

Is your music on a network share?  Or on a local hard disk?

I have gone back to 22.0.108 and everything seems to be functioning properly, and I am happy using MC22.

I am running Media Center from the applications folder, and my libraries are stored on external hard drives connected via USB hub.

Now I need to find the setting that keeps the program from searching out an update upon start-up.

Thanks for your help.
