Two questions about MC behavior (9.0.180)
« on: June 12, 2003, 03:00:26 pm »

I've been using Media Center for about a month now and absolutely love it. I've noticed a couple of buggy behaviors that I couldn't seem to find any info on in the forums:

1. I have a DVD/CD ROM drive and a CD-RW drive. During my current project of ripping my entire CD collection, I figured everything would go faster if I put one CD, started ripping it, and then put another CD in the other drive. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Media Center will add the new CD to the ripping queue - but it does so in a fairly inconsistent manner. I have MC set up to prompt me when I load a CD - so when I load the first CD I receive the dialog box asking me if I want to Rip or Play. I select Rip which begins the process of ripping CD #1. Then I load CD #2 in the other drive. This is where things get strange. Sometimes, MC just automatically adds the tracks on CD #2 to the queue, sometimes I get the prompt asking me if I want to rip, and sometimes I have to click on the CD drive in the tree view to initiate the YADB lookup and then it either adds the tracks automatically or prompts me. In addition, once the tracks are added for CD #2, sometimes checkboxes appear next to them, sometimes not.

2. If I delete any of the auto smartlists, they reappear when I restart the program - is this the normal behavior? It seems like it would make more sense to have something similar to the Restore Default View Schemes option for these smartlists.

Hi,

Heres some answers to your Q's

1.  This is not a documented feature hence the odd behaviour.  I am not sure it is even meant to do as much as it did doo ;D

2.  Yes this is normal.  The preset aut smartlists are always auto created on startup.
