JRemote for Windows PC for Remote Access
« on: September 18, 2018, 08:10:30 am »

I am using JRiver on a Linux machine. Graphics are not good due to some compatibility issue when I connect with NoMachine. I am just wondering if there is something like JRemote which I can install on a Windows PC to connect to JRiver running on that Linux machine?

JRemote is a app. It works on android phones and tablets. That being said it may work on a windows 10 machine but this is speculation on my part as I don't use windows 10

JRemote is an Android/iOS app, it won't run on Windows. JRiver Media Center itself will run on Windows, macOS and various Linux distributions like Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc.

You might look into Panel, which can work with any device with a modern web browser: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,105883.0.html and https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,115638.0.html and https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Panel

May be I should have asked the question differently.

What I am trying to do is to connect to a Linux JRiver machine via a Windows PC without going through NoMachine (Remote Desktop type program to connect to a Linux machine or any device on the network). Is there a way to connect to Linux JRiver via Web Browser maybe?

Yeah, look into the Panel links above if you want to access your library on the Linux machine from a web browser in Windows over your network. You'll have to enable Media Network in the Linux version of MC though.

More info: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Network and https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Access_Key

Using Media Network, you could even install MC24 on the Windows machine, add a Library and use the access key from the Linux version on the Windows machine to access it that way too.

Thanks for all the responses.

I think Panel view is what I was looking for, but just to clarify one thing;

I have Media Network enabled on Linux Machine which is far from my listening position and that will aloow me to use Panel View. If I install MC24 on Windows machine also, can I access and play the library from Linux machine, that will give me full control of MC and library on Linux. I do not have or want library on the Windows machine. Linux has an HDD connected with all my music on it, and I do not want to play over the network, but would like control over the network, if that makes sense.

If you don't intend to stream music from the Linux machine to the Windows machine (instead using the Windows machine to just control the playback on the Linux machine) then Panel is all you'll need, no need to install MC24 on the Windows machine.

Thank you for your responses, but if I installed MC on Windows machine, can I get control, as well as playback from Linux machine? That would be ideal because I can edit tags, etc. while listening to music, without Remote Desktop or NoMachine into Linux machine.

You can use one copy of MC to connect to another.  Here's the Media Network topic on our wiki:
